With much hope and pixie dust, Pixar’s ‘Elemental’ (2023) has ranked back up at the box office. Previously, it was reported that ‘Elemental’ was nothing more than a flop. It has been compared to one of Pixar’s worst films, ‘Lightyear’ (2022). Thankfully, week two at the box office has looked much better for ‘Elemental.’
Box Office Increase
Variety reported, “Elemental’ was “embraced” by its audience, leaving hope that the film would recover in upcoming weeks. Additionally, the film has had great success with International offices. Variety stated, “Pixar animation ‘Elemental’ rose to the top of the South Korean box office over the latest weekend. It overtook ‘The Roundup: No Way Out’ (2023) and kept new release ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ (2023) at bay, in third place.”

Domestically, ‘Elemental’ is doing better, too! For the second weekend, ‘Elemental’ and ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ are racing for first place. “The pic is falling off 39 percent or less, a strong hold for a film that many had written off. Elemental‘s performance is an indication that families are discovering the movie thanks to good word of mouth.” detailed by The Hollywood Reporter.
With films that are original stories, it can be harder to market and break into the hearts of us Disney/Pixar fans. But maybe, we need to open our arms a bit more and embrace the heat Ember is delivering.
