‘Fairy Godmothers in Training’ Replaced With New Gender Neutral Title at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is preparing to reopen very soon at Walt Disney World, and many Guests are thrilled to once again bring their little ones to the boutique for exciting transformations into a Disney Princess or knight.

The experience at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique includes a full makeover experience complete with a new costume with makeup, hair and nail accessories for children ages 3-12. And, when Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique reopens next month, the experience will even include new costumes and accessories, and options for hairstyles.

In addition to new, inclusive styles, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique’s Cast Members are taking cues from Disney’s Inclusivity key by changing the name of the shop’s ‘Fairy Godmothers in Training’ to a more gender neutral alternative.

Walt Disney World’s official website has been updated with the change from ‘Fairy Godmothers in Training’ to ‘Fairy Godmother’s Apprentices.’

The name change for the Cast Members at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique will allow for more inclusive experiences working at this location as the title is works for all gender identities, including those who do not identify as female. ‘Fairy Godmothers in Training’ had been the name used for Cast Members at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique since the locations opened at Walt Disney World, however, it is officially retired as Disney continues to add new elements of inclusivity to the theme parks for both Cast Members and Guests.

The role itself has not changed with every part of the experience remaining the same as it was prior to the Boutique’s closure at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique has locations in the Magic Kingdom by Cinderella Castle, inside Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and at Disney Springs, as well as at the Disneyland Resort and aboard Disney Cruise Line ships.
