While the views are breathtaking, and the experience is unreal, it’s still a Resort at the end of the day. That means it still has to operate the way a hotel would with protocols, security, and safety for all Guests and Cast Members.

Recently, a Guest recounted their stay at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and their experience when a not-so-magical alarm sounded. Guests staying in the Jambo House were asked to leave their hotel rooms mid-night due to a fire alarm. While this happens sometimes, what comes next isn’t something you’d expect.

A Guest took to Reddit to share their frustration not with the alarm but with other Guests also staying at the Deluxe Resort. They wrote, “Seriously, people. While the fire alarm going off at 2:30 a.m. at Jambo House may be nothing (or a fire alarm going off anywhere, really), you stopping the flow of traffic to take selfies with you and your children on the stairs is ridiculous. You are holding up people evacuating a building in case of a fire for a picture?”

Another Disney fan took to the comment section to add, “How else will people on the gram know about that experience if there is no selfie to prove it… We live in a weird digital age…”

We certainly live in an era where everything is documented, but a fire alarm in the early morning hours is an interesting choice to snap a photo of. Although no further comments were made, it seems the fire alarm was nothing more than an alarm, as a fire or something of the liking would have likely been reported.

It’s always important to note that during situations like this, to evacuate and get out quickly in case there may be a fire in your area. As a Guest at any Resort, it’s also important to remember that most areas are communal and you do have neighbors, though it may feel like your vacation is an oasis of all its own.

Have you ever experienced a fire alarm during your stay at a Disney Resort?
