This Is the Most Underrated Restaurant at Disney Resorts

Walt Disney World is a foodie destination for sure, and with over 100 restaurants to choose from across Disney Parks and Resorts, finding all of the best spots can easily feel like a daunting task.

Even with so many restaurants around Disney property, it can be a challenge to decipher when you should opt for quick-service vs. table-service dining and when a restaurant is worth leaving the Parks for. Some of the best restaurants at Disney Resort hotels are located around the Magic Kingdom, making many of them just a short monorail ride, boat ride, or even a walk away from the Park.

As far as Magic Kingdom Area Resorts go, the locations off the monorail are the most underrated (simply based on transportation, before we even get to the restaurants.) The Walt Disney World Monorail system is such an iconic “attraction,” that when most Guests Resort hop from the Magic Kingdom they simply hop on the monorail, leaving out Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge as the two locations are only accessible via bus or boat.

For the most underrated Disney Resort restaurant, we are heading to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. This Resort is actually home to some of the most popular restaurants at Walt Disney World including Whispering Canyon Cafe which features barbecue-inspired eats with a series of fun antics, and Storybook Dining at Artist Point, a character dining experience featuring notable friends (and a villain…) from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937).

For the most underrated restaurant, however, we are heading through the main building’s lobby, beyond the two aforementioned restaurants and the Resort’s pool, to the waterfront dining area that makes up Geyser Point Bar & Grill.

There are so many reasons why Geyser Point Bar & Grill is one of our favorite Disney Resort restaurants, and we have to start with the breathtaking view from the dining area. If you are looking for a quick and casual place to relax with a meal outside of the Magic Kingdom, read this post to learn why the atmosphere at Geyser Point is incredible.

For Guests hoping to stick to their budget, Geyser Point Bar & Grill is one of the best values for a dining experience anywhere at Walt Disney World. In addition to the Wilderness Lodge atmosphere and gorgeous views, this restaurant essentially offers table-service quality meals for quick-service pricing.

Highlights of the menu include the Bison Cheeseburger Served with Bacon, Sweet Crispy Onion Straws, Marionberry Sauce, and Garlic Aïoli, Roasted Salmon, Served over Warm Ancient Grains, Petit Greens, Grilled Vegetables, and Lemon Vinaigrette, and a Grilled Portobello Salad, Zucchini, Roasted Red Peppers, Squash, Onions, Multigrain Salad, Goat Cheese Dressing.

At $20, the Bison Cheeseburger is the most expensive entree served at the restaurant, which is quite a deal for the quality of the food at Disney’s pricing. On the other end of the menu, Geyser Point’s salads are only $12 and a fruit plate served with Greek yogurt is available for just $9.

Since Geyser Point doubles as one of Disney World’s best lounges, we have to point out that this is one of the best spots near the Magic Kingdom to relax with a cocktail or small plates.

Geyser Point Bar & Grill features some of Disney’s best specialty cocktails, including Huckleberry Punch
made with 44° North Mountain Huckleberry Vodka, Bols Crème de Cassis, Lemon Juice and Cranberry Juice, and the Cascadia Sangria Cocktail, with Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Black Cherry, Lime Juice and Orange Juice topped with Columbia Crest H3 Merlot, just to name a few. This location often has a delicious lineup of seasonal cocktails, so we recommend checking the menu during your visit to see what’s new.

For small plates, Geyser Point offers some of Disney’s best nachos with housemade chips topped with cheesy barbecue brisket, along with classic dishes like a shrimp cocktail and a charcuterie board.

Disney’s description of Geyser Point Bar & Grill reads:

Picture-Perfect Meals
Feast al fresco with delectable bites to grab ‘n’ go while enjoying the Resort’s rustic beauty. Nestled in the heart of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, this scenic outpost boasts a walk-up window for dining from the comfort of your lounge chair or at a table on the restaurant’s spacious outdoor deck.

Satisfy your palate with hearty lunch and dinner selections that include a bison burger topped with cheese, savory smoked turkey sandwich or grilled Portobello salad with zucchini, roasted red peppers, tomato, multigrains and goat cheese dressing.

If you’re hankering for a sweet treat, try the campfire chocolate mousse or the apple cider sorbet that’s simply divine.

Don’t forget the kiddos! Little explorers can take a timeout from pool play and refuel with Disney Check meals featuring grilled chicken or a finger food sampler.

Reservations are not accepted for Geyser Point Bar & Grill as the restaurant operates more like a quick-service restaurant or lounge than a traditional Disney table service restaurant. We are often able to find a table though, and certainly recommend it the next time you need a break from touring the Magic Kingdom!
