VIDEO: Guest Documents Being Stuck on Classic Disney Attraction for Hours

Whether Guests are visiting Walt Disney World or Disneyland, there’s a clear expectation for that one-of-a-kind Disney magic.

But for one group of Guests, the illusion of Disney magic was sadly broken while riding the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction.

If you’ve ever ridden the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at Walt Disney World or Disneyland, you’ll know it’s a (mostly) slow-moving journey through ‘the Golden Age of Piracy.’

Guests board their ‘swashbuckling cruise’ ship, drift through ghostly caverns, bravely plummet down a dark and shadowy waterfall, ending up at Pirates Grotto.

After surviving the plunge, Guests then weave through a battle of cannon fire between a pirate ship and a sturdy fort. Attend a good old-fashioned pirate’s auction of goods, avert ye’ eyes from the gruesome interrogation, and watch as flames swallow the town and even trap prisoners inside their jail cell! 

If you keep an eye out, you’ll even catch a glimpse of Captain Jack Sparrow from the film series Pirates of the Caribbean (inspired by the ride).

Overall, the journey is quite exciting for a slow-moving barge! Or at least, it’s supposed to be exciting. For Guests Jose and Baleigh (@eat.sleep.positivity on TikTok), the slow-moving ride quickly turned into a slow-moving wait to be rescued.

The pair posted the video above, showing the shattered illusion of Disney magic as the classic ride broke down.

The couple shared their experience, captioning their video with their description, “We broke down on Pirates […] Was stuck there for 2 hours.”

The video goes on to show Cast Members coming to their rescue, chivalrously helping Guests out of the stalled boats.

Although rides may temporarily close or stall due to technical difficulties, an attraction breaking down for hours and leaving Guests stranded is a rarer case.

So there’s no need to panic the next time you visit a Disney Park. It’s all a part of the adventure that comes with ’a pirate‘s life,’ after all!
