HBO’s Harry Potter reboot just got nine steps closer to Hogwarts.
The studio has confirmed yet another round of casting for its upcoming Harry Potter TV series, adding a second wave of actors to the core ensemble. That brings the total number of confirmed cast members to 18—enough to fill an entire table in the Great Hall.
Among the biggest new names: Katherine Parkinson will play Molly Weasley, Johnny Flynn steps in as Lucius Malfoy, and Bertie Carvel is set to take on Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge. The Dursleys have also been locked in, too, with Bel Powley and Daniel Rigby playing Petunia and Vernon, respectively. Add in Lavender Brown, Seamus Finnigan, Parvati Patil, and Draco Malfoy (played by newcomer Lox Pratt), and things are getting real.
These names join the original batch of announced actors: John Lithgow (Dumbledore), Janet McTeer (McGonagall), Paapa Essiedu (Snape), Nick Frost (Hagrid), and Luke Thallon (Quirrell). Paul Whitehouse is Filch, while the main trio—Harry, Ron, and Hermione—will be played by Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout, and Arabella Stanton, respectively.

Though fans are still wrapping their heads around the idea of anyone else playing these characters, the sheer scale of casting makes it clear: HBO isn’t messing around. This is a full Harry Potter reboot. Seven seasons across 10 years. Francesca Gardiner is showrunner; Mark Mylod will direct several episodes; and production begins this summer.
No premiere date has been set, but the Harry Potter series is expected to arrive on HBO in 2026. Until then, casting speculation will continue—especially around the likes of Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Bellatrix Lestrange, and of course, He Who Must Not Be Named.
