If I Had A Holiday Gift Exchange With Disney Characters…

It’s that time of the year again!  Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Yule or another holiday, chances are you’re gearing up for some fun festivities with friends and family.  But imagine spending the holiday season with your favorite Disney characters!  What would you give them?  Here is a list of Disney characters we’d love to have a gift exchange with – and the gifts we’d give them.

1. Belle

Everyone’s favorite bookworm is certainly easy to buy for!  Even though she was gifted a library by the Beast, with more books that she can probably read in a lifetime, we couldn’t resist adding to her collection.  We’d love to give Belle an atlas of the world, with information about all the world’s countries (and full-color pictures, of course!) so she can plan where to go on her next adventure in the great, wide somewhere.

2. Sneezy

Allergies are no laughing matter, and we certainly feel for our poor dwarf friend Sneezy, who has the worst case of hay fever we’ve ever seen!  It must be annoying – and embarrassing – to have regular gale-force sneezes.  So until Sneezy finds an allergy medication that works for him – or until he moves to Antarctica – we’d give him a giant box of tissues.  But not just any box – it would have to be 3-ply and ultra-soft, of course.

3. Buzz Lightyear

As one of Andy’s new toys, Buzz thought he was actually an intergalactic spaceman, and that he could fly, and was devastated to discover that he was merely a toy.  For the holidays, we’d retrofit Buzz with his own working jetpack, so he can take off and explore infinity (and beyond) whenever he wants to!

4. Miss Piggy

We prefer to think of Miss Piggy as confident and strong, rather than narcissistic.  She speaks her mind, knows who she is, and isn’t afraid of showing it!  Miss Piggy knows that women can do anything, no matter what they look like!  Still, she does like to be glamorous, so we can’t think of a better gift for Miss Piggy than the magic mirror from Snow White, to always remind her that she’s the fairest one of all.

5. Cinderella

Poor Cinderella, forced to live with her mean stepmother and jealous stepsisters, constantly forced to act as a scullery maid in her own home.  We’d love to relieve her burden by gifting her with a weekly cleaning service.  She’ll never be covered in cinders from the fire again!  Hmmm, she’ll probably need a new name, then….

6. Captain Jack Sparrow

Who doesn’t love this endearingly comedic, permanently tipsy pirate?  Not since Captain Hook has a Disney pirate been this popular – and personally, we find Captain Jack much more loveable than Captain Hook!  We’d give Captain Jack a rum rack full of his favorite rum, of course!  He’ll never again have to ask where all the rum has gone.

7. Pongo and Perdita

These must be two of the most hard-working parents we’ve ever seen, with 15 of their own Dalmatian puppies, and 84 adopted ones!  We think they need a break.  So we’d gift them with the services of an excellent babysitter, so they can enjoy a much-needed evening out.

8. Iago

As Jafar’s sidekick in Aladdin, Iago is a parrot with an unusual hatred for crackers.  Still, he’s forced to eat crackers regularly by the Sultan, and presumably by other people at court who don’t realize he dislikes them.  We’d give Iago a break from his steady, unwanted diet of crackers with a nice box of assorted chocolates.  Polly want a chocolate?

9. Olaf

Anna and Elsa’s friend Olaf is a conundrum: a snowman who loves summer!  Thankfully, since getting his own personal snow flurry from Elsa, he’s no longer at risk of melting while he enjoys warmer weather.  For Olaf’s gift, we’d send him on a cruise to the Caribbean, where he can go to enjoy summer weather when it’s winter in Arendelle.

10. Bert

We love Mary Poppins’ Cockney chimney sweep friend, Bert!  He’s a busy guy, with several jobs.  One of our favorites is his work as a pavement chalk artist (remember when Mary, the children, and Bert jump into one of his creations?).  So we’d give Bert a brand new set of colorful chalk that he can use to make more beautiful worlds – that, with any luck, he’ll be able to visit with Mary!

About Jason Dick

Jason is a Disney addict. Walt Disney World trips are an annual occurrence that his partner has had to come to terms with. In between Disney trips, he spends his time running the theatre company he started in 2007. As Artistic Director, he picks musicals to bring to his hometown of Hamilton, Ontario Canada that have never been produced in the area. Traveling is definitely a passion and in addition to his trips to the happiest place on earth, he and his partner also travel the world, most recently to India and Nepal. A carnivore by nature, Jason loves the incredible amount of steakhouses Walt Disney World has to offer - they are always at the top of his list for each and every visit.
