The Disney Wish, the newest ship to launch from Disney Cruise Line, just arrived in its home port of Port Canaveral, Florida yesterday morning on June 20, 2022.

While the ship’s maiden voyage is set for July 14, 2022, the initial trip aboard the Disney Wish was initially delayed due to work on the vessel falling behind during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. The ship then arrived to Port Canaveral according to schedule, but she has not left port since her arrival for a test sail, which is customary for new vessels after arrival.

According to MarineTraffic.com, the Disney Wish is currently moored at Port Canaveral, where she arrived at yesterday, meaning she has not yet undergone a test sailing.

Prior to the ship’s maiden voyage next month, the ship should undergo a test sailing without passengers. Test sails are important for new cruise ships as they give Cast Members and Crew Members a chance to perfect protocols, both in terms of show and safety of Guests and Crew before they set out with a full ship.

Test sailings can help new ships work out the details on everything from safety drills to dining schedules with Guests, and more. When the test sail does take place for the Disney Wish, it will likely run between Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island and Port Canaveral.

Early itineraries for the Disney Wish show sailings to Nassau, Bahamas and to Castaway Cay. Disney has not commented on whether or not a test sailing should have taken place by now, but we will be keeping a lookout for any updates from DCL in case there are further delays. In most cases, test sailings go smoothly or result in changes to the ship’s operation that can be made fairly easily before Guests board.

When she does launch, the Disney Wish will offer Guests brand new live performances, exclusive areas for kids, tweens and teens, and the whole family, as well as the AquaMouse, Disney’s first attraction at sea.
