John Williams Keeps Going Strong in the Star Wars Franchise

Anyone who is a part of the Star Wars community knows John Williams name. He is an iconic part of the movie franchise and has created the most memorable Star Wars music out there. Fans are excited to hear that he will be returning creating the theme for the new Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi which will be debuting on Disney+ May 25.

Variety shared “More than two years after completing his ninth “Star Wars” movie, composer John Williams is returning to the Jedi fold with a theme for “Obi-Wan Kenobi.”

Its brand new series is starring Ewan McGregor, who Star Wars fans already know as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the prequels.

 

Williams recorded last week with a Los Angeles Orchestra, but it was kept very private. John Williams is a legend in the Disney community. He won an Oscar for the originals in 1977 and received nominations for five sequels The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983). Later on, he continued his journey with the Star Wars franchise with The Force Awakens (2015), The Last Jedi (2017), and The Rise of Skywalker (2019).

At Galaxy’s Edge at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland you will hear music in certain areas. Williams wrote the music for Star Wars: Rise of Resistance and the music that you hear once you enter and leave the land.

He was the principal conductor for the Boston Pops and continues as Guest conductor with the orchestra. Anyone who has seen John Williams live should consider themselves very lucky. He is an incredible artist as well as an amazing person.

 

Williams just turned 90 on February 8. He has had such a remarkable career, and it is impressive that even at 90, he is still creating amazing music.
