Anytime you go on a Disney Cruise, you know it’s going to be magical. If you go on a specific theme cruise, it is even more incredible if you are a fan. I recently was on a seven day Star Wars Day at Sea cruise, and as a lifelong Star Wars fan, it was amazing.

All the days leading up to the actual Star Wars Day at Sea were incredible, but all the hardcore Star Wars fans were waiting for the official day.

I found it interesting that they had the night before and the day of a course called Star Wars 101 for those in your party who may not be familiar with the movies. That way, you wouldn’t be confused and at least know the basics of what was happening around you.

The ship truly turns into a galaxy far, far away. You are fully immersed in the Star Wars universe. There are characters everywhere you turn. Sometimes there will be Imperial Officers questioning you, and other times, there will be the Resistance asking you for help.

Many Guests on the ship also dressed up as characters. Some of the costumes were so incredible that you didn’t know if they were with Disney or a Guest. If you couldn’t tell, a little trick for face characters is ones hired by Disney; we’re not wearing masks while all Guests were required to wear face coverings indoors. Also, the official characters had a Crew Member walking alongside them.

There are also photo opportunities available. While characters are walking around the ship, you can snap a photo with them at any time but some of your other favorites you will need to get a reservation for.

We were able to grab one for Darth Vader, Chewbacca, and C-3PO with R2-D2. You either have the option of taking a selfie with them or if someone in your party is with you, they can take a photo for you. Crew Members are not allowed to take them. Shutters photographers take pictures for you, and you can purchase a photo package from them.

There was a stage show where you would see many of your favorites in action, and that night it was all wrapped up with special Star Wars fireworks. There were two different showtimes and which one you attended depended on when your dining time was.

I cannot say enough good things about Star Wars Day at Sea. It was an incredible experience, and I want to go back already.
