Marvel Cinematic Universe’s powerhouse star Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) takes center stage in the upcoming sequel, stepping into the role of Zora Bennett, a highly skilled covert operative headed for an abandoned InGen island filled with mutated dinosaurs.
Directed by Gareth Edwards (2014’s Godzilla), with a screenplay by David Koepp (Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park), Rebirth is the seventh entry in the Jurassic series, which has so far grossed over $6 billion at the global box office. It follows Jurassic Park (1993), The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), Jurassic Park III (2001), Jurassic World (2015), Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), and Jurassic World Dominion (2022).
In the new trailer, long-time fans will notice something that’s been talked about for decades but never actually seen: the iconic river sequence straight out of Michael Crichton’s original “Jurassic Park” novel. The scene, never adapted for the 1993 film, has long been considered one of the book’s most thrilling sequences. Now, it’s finally hitting the big screen.
The new teaser also gives us a closer look at the film’s mutant dinosaur officially named the “Distortus Rex,” which can be seen devouring a scientist in a hazmat suit. The film will also feature other mutant dinosaurs named the “Mutadons”, pterosaur and raptor hybrids.
The latest teaser promises that a full second trailer will arrive on Tuesday.
