Magic Kingdom Closing Hours Early Today: Here’s What We Know

The 50th Anniversary celebration is well underway at Walt Disney World Resort! With the festivities beginning October 1, 2021, we’ve seen crowds continue to flock to the Disney Parks for the 18-month-long celebration of 50 years of magic making. Today, however, crowds will have to head elsewhere as Magic Kingdom is closing several hours early.

Yesterday, February 7, 2022, was an eventful day at Magic Kingdom as a smoking break room appliance set off a fire alarm causing evacuations of both Space Mountain and Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover. Today, February 8, should be much quieter as Disney plans to clear the Park at 4:30 p.m.

When looking at the Magic Kingdom Park hours, the Park closes at 4:30 p.m. today, February 8, 2022. Because of the early closure, Magic Kingdom’s 50th Anniversary nighttime spectacular, “Disney Enchantment” also shows no showtimes for today.

Why the early Park closure? When asking a Cast Member the reasoning for the closure, we were advised it was “due to a private event taking place and we do apologize for any inconvenience.” They were unable to share specific details about the private event.

As we previously shared, however, there were talks of a Cast Service Celebration to honor Cast Members and their service milestones. One event was postponed on January 25, and now Disney is reportedly going to postpone tonight’s (February 8) event as well due to the rainy weather forecasted. If the rumors are true and the Cast Member event is postponed, Disney’s Magic Kingdom will sit empty tonight.

Keep in mind, Park Hopping is permitted after 2:00 p.m. Guests visiting Magic Kingdom today may look to hop to a different Disney Park, with the awareness that Disney’s Animal Kingdom is closing at 7:00 p.m. as Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT are remaining open until 9:00 p.m.

The next early closure date to be aware of is April 6, 2022, as Disney’s Hollywood Studios is showing an early closure at 5:00 p.m. Could this be a rescheduled Cast Service Celebration? We’ll keep you posted as we learn more!
