Walt Disney World Resort’s most iconic street is getting a facelift, and Disney Parks fans are taking notice. One of Magic Kingdom Park’s most historic locations, The Plaza Restaurant, is currently undergoing visible changes, marking yet another evolution of Main Street, U.S.A., since its debut in 1971.

The Plaza Restaurant has been a guest favorite for over five decades, offering classic American fare in a turn-of-the-century-inspired setting. While it doesn’t always receive as much attention as Cinderella’s Royal Table or Be Our Guest Restaurant, it remains a go-to spot for those looking to enjoy a laid-back dining experience with a view of Cinderella Castle. Reservations are required, but the Main Street, U.S.A., restaurant typically has more availability than other Table Service locations at Magic Kingdom Park.

Construction Walls Signal More Updates

Over the past year, construction walls have popped up around sections of The Plaza Restaurant’s exterior, sparking curiosity among parkgoers. While Disney has yet to release an official statement on the project, the work has been hard to miss. Earlier this year, a sizeable themed scrim covered the upper section of the restaurant’s facade, hiding ongoing renovations. This came around the same time construction walls appeared at the nearby Emporium merchandise location.

A new report from WDWNT confirms that the scrim has been removed, exposing The Plaza Restaurant’s awning and roof. While no drastic changes are evident, the updates likely included fresh paint, minor structural repairs, and general upkeep. However, construction walls still surround certain areas of the restaurant, and the second-floor flower beds remain empty, suggesting that more work may still be underway.
