Man With Loaded Gun Caught While Trying to Break Into Cars at Walt Disney World

Sometimes a bit of reality makes its way into “The Most Magical Place on Earth,” and while fortunately no one was hurt in one recent incident at Walt Disney World, it is unsettling to think of what was filed in a recent police report.

A man was recently caught by authorities attempting to break into vehicles that were parked by Guests outside a Disney Park, only for law enforcement to soon realize that the man was carrying a loaded firearm among several other eventual charges.

LocalToday shared the details of an Orange County Sheriff’s Office arrest report which referenced a man named Jordan Brown (28) from Haines City, FL, who was found by authorities after about 10 minutes of attempting to break into vehicles at Disney’s Transportation & Ticket Center.

On August 8, 2022, Brown was found to have a loaded firearm, so following his arrest he was charged with carrying a concealed firearm, loitering, and a traffic violation from his driver’s license being previously suspended.

The Transportation & Ticket Center serves as the parking lot for Guests visiting the Magic Kingdom as well as a starting point for Guests being dropped off by offsite hotel buses and monorail Resorts to catch the monorail to EPCOT. As such, the area is staffed by numerous Disney Cast Members, who contacted security when a man was spotted attempting to break into vehicles.

Brown allegedly tried to get into more than a dozen vehicles while wandering row to row in the parking lot before he eventually left and exited in what was presumably his own car. After calls by security, sheriffs stopped Brown as he approached the toll booth on World Drive to question him about his behavior in the parking lot.

In the report, Brown told the sheriff’s detective that he was attempting to surprise his girlfriend by putting something in her car while she was in the Park. As Brown continued to tell his side of the story that he was looking for the car to surprise his girlfriend, the detective noticed his firearm and asked him to step out of his vehicle where he was ultimately arrested.

According to the arrest report, “Brown knowingly carried a firearm on the floor of the driver’s seat. The gun was loaded with a full magazine and one round in the chamber. It was not securely locked and easily accessible to him while in the driver’s seat.” The detective noted that Brown did previously hold a concealed weapons permit in the state of Florida, only an expired permit from Alabama.

Thankfully Disney’s security team was quick to stop Brown and so far it seems no vehicles were actually broken into, nor did any Guests come into contact with him during the incident. A security checkpoint is also located at the Transportation & Ticket Center for Guests visiting the Magic Kingdom, but we still urge our readers to lock their vehicles, leave valuables at home, and be aware of their surroundings (and say something to a Cast Member if you see anything suspicious.)

We will continue to monitor any updates on the situation and will report back with additional information as it is available here on Disney Tips.
