A Disney creator recently captured an unfortunate incident that occurred at Disneyland Paris. TikToker @jamesgeorgerowney posted a video with the caption, “Just absolutely shocked by the way the characters are treated. Please treat them with respect, especially when they need to go back stage.”

As the video begins, we see Mickey Mouse exiting a doorway into the Park. A large amount of Disneyland Paris Guests are hanging out in the area, awaiting his arrival.

The minute he comes out, Disney Guests start waving frantically at Mickey as they quickly make their way toward him, anxious to get a high five. One Guest, who is a bit older, storms past all the children, cutting them off.

With his phone in hand, he aggressively approaches Mickey as he tries to get a picture with him. Mickey completely ignores the teenager, walking around him and interacting with other Guests, as he makes his way out of the area.

Finally, a Cast Member can be seen helping Mickey navigate the crowd, escorting him to a backstage location. The TikToker exclaims, “Honestly, I’m really shocked to see this kind of behavior towards the characters. When they need to get backstage, just let them!!!! Please respect that!!!!”

People sometimes get offended at Disney Parks when a character doesn’t pay attention to them, but Disney Cast Members are on a schedule, and their time is limited. Guests should be considerate of Cast Members and give them the benefit of the doubt, not taking the circumstances personally.

Walt Disney World’s official website states that “One of the best ways to see Disney Characters is to make reservations at a restaurant with Character Dining.” If meeting specific Disney characters is a priority for your party, this is a great way to ensure an interaction.

I can attest to this! In fact, when you book a reservation at a character dining location, chances are you will be visited by various characters numerous times during your experience. This is the perfect opportunity to meet Mickey Mouse!

Disney characters will pose with Guests for pictures and provide them with the one-on-one time they crave. It’s important to remember that there are people with feelings behind the costume, and they deserve to be respected.
