The New Look

Currently, she can be spotted in several shows, parades, and at certain times at Princess Fairytale Hall. Earlier today (June 30), the character debuted a new outfit during Essence Fest at Disneyland Park. In her new look, Princess Tiana ditches the signature gown she wears in most appearances and instead dons a more adventurous look.

Her new outfit, comprised of a hat, jacket, boots, and pants, is the same that the character will wear when featured in the new ride opening next year. It’s unclear where, when, and how often Princess Tiana will appear in the parks wearing her new costume. Despite the excitement surrounding the reimagined Splash Mountain ride and the Princess’s new appearance, there will undoubtedly still be Disney Guests and fans of The Princess and the Frog (2009) who wish to have a meet-and-greet with the character’s more classic look.

The New Ride

Her new attire matches the artist’s rendering of the new audio-animatronic Princess Tiana that will be focused on the new ride.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will take Disney Guests through a storyline of Princess Tiana helping prepare a party for her friends. The old mountain is currently being transformed into a salt mine, and although the new ride will still use much of the same track system, it will have 17 new audio-animatronics, original music, and a New Orleans flair. In addition, many of the voice actors from the animated film will be reprising their roles as iconic Disney characters.

Disney still has not provided official opening dates for the new attraction at either Park, but each day, we inch closer and closer to completion.

About Steven Wilk

Steven has a complicated relationship with Disney. As a child, he visited Walt Disney World every few years with his family. But he never understood why kids his age (and older) were so scared of Snow White or Alien Encounter. He is a former participant of the Disney College Program (left early…long story), and he also previously worked in Children’s publishing, where he adapted multiple Disney movies and TV shows. He has many controversial opinions about Disney…like having a positive view of Michael Eisner, believing Return of the Jedi is superior to The Empire Strikes Back, and that Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge should have never been built (at least not at Hollywood Studios). Every year for the past two decades, Steven has visited either Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Aulani or went on a Disney Cruise. He’s happy to share any and all knowledge of the Disney destinations (and he likes using parenthesis a lot…as well as ellipses…)
