Australian singing sensation Olivia Newton-John has sadly passed away today. The beloved actress who famously starred opposite John Travolta in the musical filmĀ Grease (1978) was 73 years old.
According to an Instagram post from her family, the actress died “peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends.”
Olivia Newton-John starred in the Disney movie, A Mom for Christmas (1990) back in the ’90s. In the film, the actress plays a department store mannequin that comes to life after a young girl wishes for a mom for the holidays.
The singer, famously known for her vocal range, celebrated many triumphs when it came to her music. Her top hits included, “Physical,” and “You’re the One That I Want,” famously portrayed in Grease.
Olivia Newton-John leaves behind many beloved family members including her husband John Easterling, and daughter Chloe Lattanzi. Extended family members will also be mourning the loss of the singer-actress.
According to Fox News, she is survived by her “sister Sarah Newton-John; brother Toby Newton-John; nieces and nephews Tottie, Fiona and Brett Goldsmith; Emerson, Charlie, Zac, Jeremy, Randall, and Pierz Newton-John; Jude Newton-Stock, Layla Lee; Kira and Tasha Edelstein; and Brin and Valerie Hall.”
Days before she died, Olivia’s daughter posted a picture of her and her mom, captioning it, “I worship this woman. My mother. My best friend.”
The actress was close friends with John Travolta, who lost his wife Kelly Preston in 2020. In a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, he stated, “My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John!”
The family has a message for fans, “We ask that everyone please respect the familyās privacy during this very difficult time. Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer.”
