News Just In About the New Peter Pan Film

The Disney and Pixar Studios Panel at the D23 Expo has already brought some exciting news about the upcoming movies fans will get to enjoy. New movies that are in the early stages of production have been confirmed, such as Mufasa and Elio, as well as a new logo that will be at the forefront of Disney movies in 2023. Trailers for movies that will be released soon, such as Hocus Pocus 2 and Disenchanted, have also provided us with further insights into the new movies that will premiere on Disney+

Another movie to debut exclusively on Disney+, is Peter Pan & Wendy. We have now been given a glimpse of the film that is set to be released in 2023, by the release of the first official teaser poster. Guests luck enough to have Expo tickets were also shown a secret trailer for the movie, which showed Wendy meeting some of the lost boys in Neverland, only some of them are in fact girls.

Some of the film’s cast took to the stage, including Ever Anderson who will star as Wendy Darling, Jude Law who plays Captain Hook, and Alyssa Wapanatâhk who is Tiger Lily. Ever Anderson gave information about the new film, Peter Pan & Wendy, explaining how Peter and Wendy are seen as equals. Jude Law added detail, explaining how the actors delve into Peter and Captain Hook’s backstory, when they were friends. It seems that we will learn exactly why Hook is so iconic when the film is released on Disney+ for Disney fans to enjoy. There were even several versions of the ‘hook’ before they got it write, Law explained in footage after the teaser poster was revealed. See what he has to say about becoming Hook, here.

Directed by David Lowerey, the film is set to be a live-action remake of the 1953 animated version of Peter Pan, and story originally written by J M Barrie. Lowerey has teased that he has taken an unconventional approach to the iconic story that fans know and love. Alexander Molony and Ever Anderson will start in the biggest roles of their young careers, and Yara Shahidi will be the first black woman to take the role as Tinker Bell on screen.

We can’t wait to see this new movie brought by Walt Disney Pictures, Whitaker Entertainment and Roth/Kirschenbaum Films. If the teaser poster is anything to go by, we are in for a real treat!
