Disneyland Park has taken steps to obscure one of its most iconic Fantasyland attractions, Pinocchio’s Daring Journey, from guest view.

The 41-year-old ride, which has been a staple at Disneyland Park since it opened on May 23, 1983, has suddenly been obscured by construction walls and fabric scrims. This family-friendly dark ride tells the story of Pinocchio (1940) through animatronics and detailed sets, alongside its counterparts at Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland Paris.

According to WDWNT, Disneyland Resort has installed large wooden walls and tan fabric material around the exterior of Pinocchio’s Daring Journey. These additions, which blend in with the overall Fantasyland theme, seem to conceal scaffolding and work being done on the attraction’s outer structures.

Additionally, Disneyland Park has temporarily blocked off the extended queue for Pinocchio’s Daring Journey, replacing it with stanchions and ropes adorned with purple flags. Guests who wish to experience the ride must now wait outside in the sun. Fortunately, the ride usually has short wait times—typically no more than 20 minutes, which helps to alleviate the discomfort of standing outside.

Disneyland Resort has not officially commented on the work being done, so this is likely routine maintenance, not a significant update or renovation. With the Southern California Disney Resort gearing up for its 70th-anniversary celebrations in May 2025, crews have been busy making updates and improvements throughout Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Whether the construction surrounding Pinocchio’s Daring Journey will be finished by the time the anniversary events kick off remains to be seen.

Pinocchio’s Daring Journey remains operational during this unannounced refurbishment. It may close earlier than usual on fireworks nights, as its location near Sleeping Beauty Castle makes it susceptible to the effects of the pyrotechnic displays. Guests are encouraged to check the Disneyland Resort app for the most current operating hours and information.
