Pre-Cruise Testing Requirements Updated for Select Disney Cruise Line Departures

Pre-testing requirements have been a standard part of cruising since the industry reopened during the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout 2022, however, requirements regarding vaccination and testing for COVID-19 have been reduced on Disney Cruise Line and other leading cruise companies.

Today, July 13, 2022, Disney Cruise Line revised testing requirements for select upcoming cruises. If you are taking a Disney Cruise vacation this summer, we’ve got all the information you need to know ahead of your trip.

On the “Know Before You Sail” page of the official Disney Cruise Line website, new testing requirements are now listed for Guests who will be sailing aboard the Disney Magic out of European departure ports beginning on July 30, 2022.

The changes to the COVID-19 testing protocols will affect Guests cruising on the Disney Magic from ports across the continent, including including Barcelona, Spain; Civitavecchia, Italy; Dover, England; and Copenhagen, Denmark.

Testing details from Disney are listed below:

For sailings departing European ports before July 30, 2022, all Guests (regardless of age and vaccination status) will be required to take a COVID-19 test at the terminal before boarding on embarkation day.

Fully vaccinated Guests on sailings departing European ports on or after July 30, 2022, must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result (paid for by the Guest) taken no more than 1-2 days before setting sail to be exempt from embarkation testing at the terminal. Completing pre-trip testing prior to embarkation day enhances the efficiency of boarding and confirms that you are negative for COVID-19 prior to traveling to the terminal. Pre-trip test results must be uploaded into the Sail Screen app available on the Project Screen by Prenetics website by midnight prior to embarkation day.

While we would love to see the pandemic behind us, it is still important to confirm COVID-19 policies prior to departing for any type of travel as different destinations and activities may have their own restrictions. We still recommend checking the official Disney Cruise Line website for updates even if your next cruise does not depart from Europe as there are still some changes due to COVID-19 (such as boarding and departure group and various testing protocols) on all Disney Cruise Line itineraries.

Stateside, Disney Cruise Line is preparing to launch the Disney Wish out of Port Canaveral on her maiden voyage, which begins tomorrow, July 14, 2022.
