Closure Scheduled for This Popular Restaurant at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Restaurants located at Walt Disney World’s monorail resorts have been undergoing multiple renovations over the past couple of years. With the former Mizner’s now transformed into the Enchanted Rose, and an understated retheme of Citricos, plus the upcoming renovations at Narcoossee’s Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has seen its share of refurbishments.

It seems that now Disney is planning to focus its next restaurant refurbishment on Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, with a popular restaurant set to close for an unspecified amount of time beginning late this summer.

Kona Cafe, located on the second floor of the resort’s Great Ceremonial House is now scheduled to close for a refurbishment on August 15, 2022.

This location has undergone multiple menu changes over the years, but it remains a favorite spot for Guests looking for casual dining outside of the Magic Kingdom, with a menu offering sandwiches and noodle dishes, sushi, and more, along with specialty cocktails from the nearby Tambu Lounge.

Kona Cafe is also known for its breakfast, with the sweet Tonga Toast dish gaining a following among fans in addition to other Polynesian specialties, and of course, Kona coffee served in a French press. This location has also been known to occasionally serve the famous ‘Ohana bread pudding, based on availability.

During the restaurant’s closure, Guests will still be able to mobile order select breakfast, lunch, and dinner items from Kona Island, the nearby grab-and-go stand. Tonga Toast is also always available for breakfast at the resort’s quick-service dining location on the first floor of the Great Ceremonial House, Capt. Cook’s.

Kona Cafe will close for its refurbishment this summer on August 16, 2022, and Disney has not yet announced when the restaurant will reopen. We will keep you updated on all news from Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort as we know more here on DisneyTips.
