Is Disney World’s Newest Table Service Restaurant Still on Track to Open This Year?

A new restaurant is in the works at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but it has been a long time since fans have received an official update on its progress.

Roundup Rodeo BBQ was announced in 2019 as a brand-new table-service restaurant coming to Toy Story Land, aka Andy’s Backyard. Like the rest of this themed land, the restaurant promises to shrink Guests down to the size of a toy for their dining experience themed to Andy’s cardboard-style recreation of a rodeo.

With the exception of briefly showcasing potential place settings for the restaurant in a video shared by Disney in October, the company has been silent when it comes to an update on the latest addition to Toy Story Land. In fact, Disney’s official website does not even have a dedicated page for the restaurant (where there are already pages on the site for coming attractions set to open in 2023, like TRON Lightcycle / Run.)

Instead, the page on Disney’s site for the restaurant links to this Disney Parks Blog post from January of this year, which notes that Roundup Rodeo BBQ will be opening in 2022.

With the “official” opening timeframe being 2022, time is limited for the restaurant to actually open since this article is being published on December 12, 2022. Work on the restaurant’s exterior looks to be largely completed, however it is difficult to be sure of this from Guest areas of the Disney Park, and without anything official, we cannot confirm what progress on the inside of the restaurant looks like.

While we wait to see if Roundup Rodeo BBQ will indeed open sometime this month, we recommend checking out Woody’s Lunchbox if you are looking for lunch or dinner at Toy Story Land. This quick-service restaurant offers delicious sandwiches and “totchos,” along with housemade pop tarts.

Disney’s description of Roundup Rodeo Restaurant notes:

Once inside, you’ll be surrounded by all of the rodeo festivities in-action as well as western town and train station play sets. And you just might spot some of your favorite Disney•Pixar characters scattered throughout the restaurant in the form of toys and game pieces including a toy version of Jessie riding on the back of a Trixie pull-toy and unique toy versions of Bo Peep and her sheep, all who appear to be performing in the rodeo together.

We will continue to monitor updates on Roundup Rodeo, and will be back with additional information as we have it here on Disney Tips.
