Disney’s San Fransokyo Square is coming together! The project has been undergoing major changes since its announcement at the D23 Expo in 2022. The neighborhood is just about open, and Guests cannot wait for the full release of these restaurants and small businesses.

San Fransokyo Square is in Disney California Adventure Park and is set to open on August 31, 2023. With less than two weeks away, construction is still underway putting the final touches on the area. Disney describes it as a “bustling seaside plaza that will continue its transformation as the San Fransokyo Public Works Department brings this area to life.”

Home to Big Hero 6 (2014), Guests can look forward to a diverse locale with inspiration from sunny California merged with a Japanese flare. Excitingly, we are seeing some parts come to completion as the opening date nears.

San Fransokyo Square Updates

A major part of this new area in Disney California Adventure Park is the San Fransokyo Gate Bridge. Pulling inspiration from San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge and the influence of Tokyo, the bridge is almost completed. As seen in the tweet posted by Scott Gustin, the final parts of the bridge are coming together. “An iconic landmark of the area will be the San Fransokyo Gate Bridge, which will span the tide pools linking San Fransokyo Square to the Paradise Gardens Park obelisk,” Disney writes.

One new dining option for the area will be Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop. Serving up some of the most delicious sweet treats, Guests can indulge in handmade hot fudge and signature ice cream creations. Ghirardelli has been “a symbol of San Francisco since 1852″ only making it that much more obvious to be a part of San Fransokyo Square.

Additionally, the Ghirardelli sign was seen en route to Disney via the highway. What’s most unique is the two languages portrayed in the sign to be hung in the square.

With only a few days left, what are you most looking forward to at San Fransokyo Square?
