Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park has numerous rides and attractions for Guests to enjoy, but it can be tough to enjoy them all during your vacation. With that in mind, are there some rides that you could skip? We have a few rides in Magic Kingdom that we think you could skip when visiting and still have a magical experience.

Tomorrowland Speedway

This ride is often given the title as “worst ride in Tomorrowland”. The combination of noise, heat, and smell can turn people away from this ride. Little ones enjoy it as they feel like they get to drive, but adults don’t find the same excitement. These gas-powered sports cars don’t give the feel of the future but instead like we are stepping into the past. If you have a go-kart experience near your home, we say visit it and skip Tomorrowland Speedway.

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin

Found in Adventureland, Magic Carpets of Aladdin is a knock-off of the original spinner Dumbo. Although kids love trying to get the camel to spit at them, this ride is no different from Dumbo. If you are looking for a quick ride, The Magic Carpets of Aladdin can provide just that as most people walk right past as they head to Jungle Cruise or Pirates of the Caribbean. The spitting camels can bring some excitement on a warm day, but otherwise it is just your basic spinner.

A large crowd of people walking through Tomorrowland at a theme park on a sunny day, surrounded by futuristic buildings and colorful signs under a blue sky with scattered clouds.

Astro Orbiter

Another ride that is very similar to the original spinner of Dumbo is Astro Orbiter found in Tomorrowland. Located up high above the PeopleMover, this ride flies high above Tomorrowland giving Guests amazing views. As this one can take a while to load, you have to take an elevator up and down to access the ride vehicles, and we recommend skipping it if you don’t have extra time. Even though the views are amazing, the investment of time might not be worth it.

The Barnstormer in the Magic Kingdom

Barnstormer

Located back in Storybook Circus, this rollercoaster is perfect for little ones but not for grown adults. The shortest roller coaster ride in Walt Disney World, Barnstormer takes Guests in one big circle before heading back. With that in mind, the small seats do not fit adults very quickly and are extremely hard and uncomfortable. It can be not easy to get in and out of the plane seat. Unless you have little ones that are wanting to try out a coaster for the first time, we recommend skipping this one to save you some embarrassment that might come with riding it.

Mad Tea Party

A classic attraction found in Fantasyland, Mad Tea Party is a basic spinning ride, which causes a lot of motion sickness. With that in mind, if you are prone to motion sickness, you might want to consider sitting this one out. It is a great ride for the whole family if everyone can handle the spinning, but otherwise, you might walk on by.

Swiss Family Treehouse

Hidden in Adventureland, the Swiss Family Treehouse is one that people often walk right by, and we don’t blame them. The treehouse is impressive and shows how they could live and function, but as you have to climb up and down, it can be a lot on already tired legs. The views from the top of the 6-story-high treehouse is beautiful as you can see 360-degrees around Adventureland and the Magic Kingdom, but you have to determine if it is worth the effort and time. If you are looking for something to fill time, this can be a fine stop; however, we wouldn’t make it a must do.

These next few rides might surprise you, but hang with us and see why we suggest skipping these popular rides in Magic Kingdom.

Peter Pan’s Flight

We know this could surprise and shock many people but hang with us to discuss why you could skip Peter Pan’s Flight. This is a classic attraction and one that many Guests rush to in the morning to ride. We agree that it is a fantastic ride that flies you over Neverland but we aren’t sure the time invested in waiting is worth the extremely short ride experience. The queue has been updated, making it fun and interactive, but the ride itself might need some upgrading. We love seeing Peter Pan, Tink, Wendy, and the Lost Boys; however, they could use some love for the animatronics and scenes from the movie. If you have limited time, we would suggest skipping the long wait and experiencing other attractions in the Park.

It’s a Small World

Another classic Disney attraction that we suggest you skip in the Magic Kingdom is a Small World. This ride either has people loving it or hating it. If you want to take a ride on it’s a Small World, you will need to invest some time. The ride itself is longer (over 10 minutes), and the loading can also take a while. With not a lot to look at while waiting, this queue can feel like it takes forever. Many also think that this ride needs to see some updates. Comparing it to the same ride in Disneyland, it needs some love. If we have time for a longer attraction, we would be heading to Splash Mountain or Pirates of the Caribbean instead of a Small World.

It is hard to determine what we should skip in the Magic Kingdom as we all have different goals and touring strategies. Overall, we felt that most fans would still get a fantastic experience in Walt Disney World even if they skipped some of the rides listed above. What do you think about our list? Did we miss one you would typically walk past?

About Jennifer Retzlaff

My name is Jennifer Retzlaff and I became a lifelong Disney fan during my first trip to Walt Disney World in 6th grade. From that moment, Disney became a big part of my life. I live in Iowa with my husband and two kids who are growing up too quickly for my liking. I started introducing my love for Disney early to my family with a Disney honeymoon and then trips when our youngest of 18 months. Since then, our family has been to Walt Disney World over five times and we continue to plan and dream for the next trip. I love the magic that Disney brings to people through the theme parks, cruises, adventures and movies they create. As a teacher, I try to bring that magic into my classroom to help kids believe that “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It.” I recently reached a dream of mine as I joined Magic Vacation Planner as a personal travel advisor. With this team, I can now help others plan magical vacations. As a passionate writer, I also have my own blog at magicalvacationsbyjen which is also where you can follow me on instagram for trip reviews along with tips and tricks for your next magical vacation.
