Have you ever worried about getting stuck 50 feet up on Soarin’ Around the World at Disney California Adventure Park or EPCOT? One group of Disneyland Resort guests recently shared what it’s like to get trapped on the elevated simulator ride.
Soarin’ Around the World is an immersive hang-gliding experience that transports guests across breathtaking landscapes via an 80-foot IMAX screen. Riders are lifted between 30 and 50 feet in the air, taking them on a stunning journey past iconic landmarks such as the Great Wall of China and the Eiffel Tower.
However, a recent incident at Disney California Adventure Park resulted in a disturbance that left several guests experiencing an unexpected thrill while suspended in mid-air. During a typical operational day, guests enjoying the ride were met with a surprising halt, causing the attraction to malfunction.
A large group found themselves dangling from the ride, creating an atmosphere of panic for some, while others responded with humor amidst the chaos. @bibbidibobbidiibrooke shared this video of the incident on TikTok:
@bibbidibobbidiibrooke We got stuck on Soarin’ and this is what happened 🤣 We made a comedy show of it but hoenstly it was terrifying but @ajifyounasty kept us laughing. Thankfully they got us down in no time #soarin #californiaadventure #disneyland #stuckatdisney #disney #disneyparks #soarinaroundtheworld #stuck
Being stranded mid-air can evoke a rush of emotions, ranging from fear to exhilaration. The TikTok user depicted the moment as “terrifying” but emphasized the humor that arose from the unintended delay.
A guest on another ride vehicle called the incident “insane” and joked that he would “climb up” to the TikToker to be in her video. Others waved and giggled when the TikToker shouted, “Wave if you’re stuck on Soarin’!”

Disney cast members efficiently lowered the guests to safety.
“We got stuck on Soarin’ and this is what happened,” the TikToker wrote. “We made a comedy show of it but [honestly] it was terrifying…Thankfully they got us down in no time.”
Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries due to the Soarin’ Around the World malfunction. Disney cast members swiftly and safely lowered the guests, and normal operations resumed shortly after the incident.
