Splash Mountain Might Be Closed, But It’s Still Featured on One of Disney’s Latest Designs

Splash Mountain has already closed permanently at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World to make way for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (and it will close at Disneyland as well, with no date for the ride’s final splash confirmed by Disney so far.)

With the closure of Splash Mountain, all nods to the former Frontierland attraction have been removed from Walt Disney World. So far, this has included everything from merchandise to pressed pennies featuring characters from the attraction and even the removal of “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah” from music loops around Magic Kingdom Park.

Despite removing all references to the attraction, an image of the ride has popped up in an unexpected spot. In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Walt Disney Company, new Disney100 merchandise and designs have been popping up all over theme parks, shopDisney, and perhaps in your wallet.

Disney Visa debuted new card designs for the celebration with one retro-inspired design and another featuring the Disney100 logo. While we understand it is a “retro” design, a noticeable piece of the artwork available for cardmembers to choose from does show Splash Mountain:

The design features other iconic Disney World attractions as well, including “it’s a small world,” Dumbo the Flying Elephant, and Space Mountain. With Splash Mountain now closed, it is surprising to see that it was included in a new card design.

The other new design features the Disney100 logo, complete with Mickey and Minnie, with artwork that will surely become familiar to fans over the next year as the celebration continues.

The Disney100 celebration will focus on Disneyland, but will also include special experiences at Disney theme parks around the world, and ways for Guests to get involved at home.

If you are interested in either of the Disney Visa card designs, you can log into your Chase account and select a new one at any time. In the meantime, check back here on Disney Tips for all the latest updates out of Walt Disney World.
