This Disney Park Has Been Closed Since Halloween

Disney vacations are full of new experiences, fun adventures, and that one-of-a-kind Disney magic. Upon visiting a Disney Park, Guests would never think they would end up trapped inside. But at Shanghai Disney Resort a couple of weeks ago, that’s precisely what happened.

On October 31, around 11:39 local time, Shanghai Disney Resort closed indefinitely due to COVID safety measures. The Disney Park and surrounding areas, such as shopping plazas, have all been closed since.

At the time, there were still Guests inside who were unable to leave Shanghai Disneyland until they produced a negative COVID test. But operations inside the Park continued, albeit with “limited offerings.”

Two weeks later, Shanghai Disney Resort is still closed, according to a report made by Reuters, which gives no updates on the Guests who were still inside the Park.

Upon visiting the official Shanghai Disney website, users will be met with an “Important Notice.” The notice reads:

In order to follow the requirement of pandemic prevention and control, Shanghai Disney Resort is temporarily closed, including Shanghai Disneyland, Disneytown, Wishing Star Park, Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and Toy Story Hotel. We will notify guests as soon as we have a confirmed date to resume operations.

We apologize for the inconvenience and will provide refund or exchanges for all guests impacted during this period.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

The most haunting aspect is that the notice is dated November 4, 2022, and has not been updated in the past ten days.

During Shanghai’s lockdown the previous year, Shanghai Disney Resort was closed for over three months. Could a closure this long be happening again? Only time will tell.
