Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Walt Disney World Resort experienced an unknown malfunction this week, causing multiple ride vehicles to collide inside the attraction. Disney cast members shut down the Magic Kingdom Park ride and evacuated dozens of guests.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened in June 2024, overtaking the former Splash Mountain in Frontierland. While the rethemed attraction has been popular with Walt Disney World Resort guests, it’s also had its fair share of operational challenges. During previews for Disney cast members and Annual Passholders, the ride experienced several malfunctions that cut sessions short. Although the attraction has improved since opening, technical issues continue to affect the ride’s reliability, particularly those involving its sophisticated audio-animatronics.
The latest incident occurred in an indoor section of the log flume ride, where several boats piled up and appeared to crash into one another. A video shared by TikTok user @chasingpixiedust_ shows the aftermath, with logs lined in a row, motionless in the water. Disney cast members are seen using grabber tools to carefully pull boats closer to the emergency exit platform, helping stranded riders exit the Frontierland attraction safely.
@chasingpixiedust_ Tiana Bayou got stuck and we had to get escorted off the ride 😳 But the backstage tour? Totally worth it 😂💚🎢✨ #disneyworld #disneyparks #tianasbayouadventure #tiana #disneyrides #disneybehindthescene #pov #viral #fyp #disneytok #disneyadult #disneypassholder #disneymagic #magickingdompark
In the video, Disney cast members escorted dozens of guests out of the attraction and led them through a rarely seen backstage area. Riders got a look at the ride’s behind-the-scenes infrastructure, including water reservoirs, maintenance areas, non-operational audio-animatronics, and exterior portions of the ride that are not themed for guest viewing.
Despite the disruption, the TikToker remained positive about the experience. “Tiana Bayou got stuck and we had to get escorted off the ride,” they wrote. “But the backstage tour? Totally worth it.”
Walt Disney World Resort did not issue a public statement about the ride breakdown, which is common for temporary closures of this nature. The ride reopened later and was running normally at the time of this article’s finalization.
