The Polynesian Village Resort is probably our favorite resort at Walt Disney World! There are so many great reasons to stay there, but of course there are always a few cons with any resort. If you are considering a stay at Polynesian Village Resort, you have to check out our list of top pros and cons for staying at the resort:

10. PRO – Proximity To The Magic Kingdom
Who wouldn’t want to stay extremely close to the Magic Kingdom? The resort is actually located directly across the lagoon from the theme park so you can see the castle while swimming in the pool and walking around the resort. You definitely feel like you never leave the magic when staying here.
9. PRO – Transportation Options
There are so many great transportation options. You have boat transportation to the Magic Kingdom and to other resorts in the area. You also have the monorail transportation to the other monorail resorts and Magic Kingdom Park. The Ticket and Transportation Center is a short walk away and you can catch the Epcot monorail from there. There is also bus transportation available to other Walt Disney World locations. You definitely won’t have a hard time getting around.
8. CON – The Price Tag
The Polynesian Village Resort is a bit on the pricey side. The rooms at the resort average $500-600 at the lower end of the rates and go up from there. The resort is in the deluxe category, so there are upgrades in the rooms compared to the other resorts, more amenities and a better location. The price is outside of the budget for some.

7. PRO – Amazing Dining Options
The resort features multiple dining locations. There is the quick service dining location Capt. Cook’s. There is also two different table service locations, Kona Café and ‘Ohana. If you like dinner shows, there is the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show offered some evenings where guests get to enjoy a luau inspired dinner and a show. You will also find lounges and smaller quick service locations where you can even get the fan-favorite, Dole Whip!
6. PRO – Fun Themed Entertainment & Activities
There are various extra activities and entertainment for resort guests. On select days you can enjoy yoga, with the resort as a beautiful backdrop. You can also learn to hula, hear amazing stories and a variety of other themed activities. There is a schedule of events each day, so guests at the resort will definitely want to check this out.
5. PRO – Home To One Of The Most Luxurious & Unique Stays
You may have heard of the bungalows that are at Polynesian Village Resort. These bungalows are one of the most coveted stays on property. They are build out over the lagoon and face Magic Kingdom Park. Guests in the bungalows get amazing views of the nightly fireworks and have their own plunge pool on the deck to cool off and enjoy.
4. CON – Extremely Popular
Because the Poly is so amazing, it is no surprise that it is extremely popular. This means that there will be a lot of non-resort guests coming to visit the resort, dine at the amazing restaurants, check out the lobby and more. There will also be competition for booking the resort during peak seasons and some of the room categories can book up quickly.
3. PRO – Larger Rooms
If you like a little more space during your stay, the resort rooms at the Poly are a little bit larger than some of the other deluxe resorts. Many of the rooms have a 5th bed option so they can accommodate families of 5, which isn’t always feasible at some of the other resorts.
2. CON – Not A Lot Of Discounts Offered
If you like promotions like free dining and other deep room discounts, they are hard to come by at Polynesian Village Resort They either aren’t available for the resort or there are so few available at the discounted rates and promotions that they are gone quickly. You will have to keep a sharp eye out to get the best deal on a stay and look at traveling during non-peak times.
1. PRO – Theming Of A True Island Life Vibe
We love everything about the theme for the resort. You really do feel like you are living the island life while there. The music at the resort and the ambiance leave you feeling relaxed and the next best thing to actually being in the Polynesian islands.
