Nothing is more exciting than seeing your favorite Disney characters while visiting a Disney Park. All Disney Parks are home to many classic attractions and experiences that are themed after some of the most iconic Disney films. The Peter Pan ride in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom was inspired by the 1953 film, while the Haunted Mansion attraction is what inspired the ‘Haunted Mansion’ (2003) film.

Today, many rides, dining options, and character meet and greets pay homage to classic Disney films. One of the most loved franchises of Disney is Toy Story, created by Pixar. The film ‘Toy Story’ (1995) inspired an entire land in Disneyland, California, and Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

These two are not the only Parks that were lucky enough to have the infamous Toy Story characters roaming the Park. While Disneyland and Disney World are the only two to have Toy Story Mania, Slinky Dog Dash, and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, another Park built a variation of one of these popular attractions. Disneyland Paris tasted going to infinity and beyond with their version of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin.

Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast

Disneyland Paris’ attraction is called Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast, where Guests have to help Buzz defeat Zurg in a laser-shooting gallery. Riders can aim and fire while spinning around, earning points for every target hit. This crowd favorite is a hit at all the Parks, even with its own unique details.

Unfortunately, for Disneyland Paris Guests, this ride is posted as closed on the website. It’s not only closed down, but it is entirely blocked off and boarded up! According to the Disneyland Paris calendar, the ride is set to be closed for not just one day but until July 11, 2023. With the attraction reopening on July 12, 2023, Guests have an end date to look forward to.

As reported by Inside the Magic, “The closure comes amid the extension of Disneyland Paris’ 30th-anniversary celebrations, which saw the debut of new experiences such as the Disney D-light drone show and the Gardens of Wonder.” This could certainly have a hand in the closure, or it could be something larger happening at the Park. Cast Members at Disneyland Paris have taken part in a strike over pay and work conditions, which may contribute to the temporary closure.

While Guests patiently wait for the boarding to come down and get back on their dark galaxy ride, they can still partake in other activities. As Disney Dining wrote, “Seeing characters such as Buzz Lightyear brought to life can really make the magic of Disney real for Guests”, so finding your nearest meet and greet may fulfill that empty spot while the ride is under refurbishment.
