The dining scene around Walt Disney World has already undergone several updates this year, but the latest change could be a major disappointment for fans of one iconic Resort restaurant.

Earlier this year, Guests at Disney World saw new updates to dining locations around the Magic Kingdom Resort Area like the new menu that debuted at Kona Cafe at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and a revamped version of Narcoossee’s, the waterfront restaurant at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Nearby, Disney’s Contemporary Resort saw The Wave…of American Flavors replaced with Steakhouse 71 ahead of Disney World’s 50th-anniversary celebration (which only came to an end last month), while Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has remained the only Magic Kingdom Resort with no major changes to its restaurant lineup.

Nearby, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground has undergone a major change at one of its restaurant, and if this location was a favorite for your family, you might be disappointed…

Fort Wilderness is home to a couple of fan-favorite Walt Disney World dining locations with the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue dinner show serving up fried chicken, tasty sides, and bottomless beer and sangria, and Trail’s End Restaurant, which over the years became a popular spot for family breakfasts and dinners.

Earlier this year, Disney confirmed that Trail’s End Restaurant would be closing permanently and that it would later reopen as an all-new quick-service marketplace concept. The closing date for Trail’s End had been pushed back several days, leaving Guests to wonder if the planned changes were still in the works, and when the location would actually close.

As of this morning, however, Disney has confirmed that Trail’s End Restaurant is now closed. While some Guests were able to speculate the location’s closure date based on the operating hours calendar on Disney’s official website, others were caught off guard by the sudden closure and will surely be missing the last version of Trail’s End.

Theme park reporter Scott Gustin shared Disney’s confirmation of the closure on April 17, 2023:

As of this writing, Disney has not expanded on what the new quick-service version of Trail’s End Restaurant will be like other than that it will feature a “marketplace concept.”

In addition to the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, Guests staying at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground still have access to several dining locations, including the Chuck Wagon, Meadow Snack Bar, and P & J’s Southern Takeout for snacks and quick-service meals, and Crockett’s Tavern for a lounge experience.

Additionally, watercraft transportation to the Magic Kingdom is available where Guests could dine in the theme park (with Park reservations) or easily head to one of the other Magic Kingdom Area Resorts.
