New Themed Rooms Will Replace Pirate Rooms at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

Themed Resorts and accommodations are part of what makes a vacation at the Walt Disney World Resort so special. While all Disney Resort hotels continue immersive experiences Guests may associate most with the theme parks, some Resorts go above and beyond in offering themed rooms and suites on top of common areas.

At Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Pirate-themed rooms had been a popular place to stay for Guests looking to stay in the Disney bubble for a number of years. As such, many fans were disappointed to learn earlier this year that the Pirate-themed furnishings would eventually be removed.

While the Pirate-theming may indeed be on its way out, Disney just announced that a new theme is coming to the Caribbean Beach Resort. Inside the Magic shared the details that some of the Guest rooms located in the Resort’s Trinidad buildings will be given new theming inspired by “Under the Sea.” The new rooms, which effectively replace some of the Pirate rooms when they are retired this year, will include subtle design features inspired by Disney characters who live under the sea.

Work will begin on the Trinidad building’s accommodations as soon as October 3, 2022, so if you have an upcoming stay booked for Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, you may notice some construction taking place during your trip. (You can always check Disney’s official website to see what construction is planned at each Resort during your stay.)

Disney has not shared additional information so far on what the rooms could look like, but it does sound like the theming will be more subtle than the Pirate rooms, perhaps closer to how Moana has been worked into rooms at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

Disney’s official description of the Resort reads:

Discover a world where life slows to a leisurely pace and worries melt away amidst Calypso rhythms. Awash with vibrant colors and lush landscapes, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort transports Guests to a relaxing paradise that captures the essence of 5 distinct islands: Barbados, Jamaica, Martinique, Trinidad and Aruba. Celebrate the spirit of the Caribbean with blissful sights and fun-filled activities—including colonial forts, lively markets, pristine beaches, splashy florals and swaying hammocks—sure to awaken the imagination

The new “Under the Sea” rooms are expected to open to Guests in 2023, and we will continue to monitor updates from the Resort and share more information as we have it on the changes coming to Caribbean Beach.
