Exciting news, Disney Park-goers! If you’ve ever driven to Walt Disney World Resort and used I-4, chances are you are well aware that the Central Florida traffic tends to be a hot mess. Well, great news, as the Disney drive is now a whole lot easier!
Construction was underway in Orange and Seminole counties as Central Florida have worked for the past seven years, overhauling Interstate 4 to add toll lanes. The great news is that the project is now complete, leaving us ready to ride with ease.
The new I-4 Express is opened in Spring 2022 and is welcoming travelers both west and eastbound on I-4, west of Kirkman Road to east of State Road 434.

The new I-4 Express was designed to serve long-distance, regional trips in order to bypass the daily congested Orlando traffic. The toll lanes are located in the center of I-4 with nearly 10 entrances and 10 exits in each direction, all labeled with “Express”.
The cost of the 21-mile project was not cheap with a pretty $2.4 billion price tag, landing this Florida’s most costly road job ever!

The great news is as you pass through the toll, you won’t need to stop at a tollbooth. Instead, Florida is relying on SunPass, E-Pass, and other transponders to collect fees.
Tolls start out at $3 for the entire length westbound and $3.50 for the eastbound stretch. Much like the Genie Lightning Lane attractions at Disney World, the I-4 Express tolls fluctuate depending on traffic volume.
