The Great Movie Ride is a slow-moving ride through the movies at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World. The attraction is sponsored by Turner Classic Movies. There is a rumor circulating around that The Great Movie Ride may close permanently in 2018. The Turner Classic Movies sponsorship is expected to end in 2018, and it has been said that Disney will not renew the sponsorship agreement. With the end of the sponsorship, Disney could decide to close the attraction in order to make room for something new. If Disney does close The Great Movie Ride, it is unknown if a new or updated attraction will take over the location or if the Chinese Theater will be replaced with something else.

There are tons of changes coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios with the addition of Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land expansions to the park. It is possible that The Great Movie ride and Chinese Theater could be changed to incorporate these two lands. It is also possible that Disney could use this change to assist with the re-theming of the entire park with all of the changes underway.
