Anytime you visit Walt Disney World Resort, it is a cause for celebration. But when your visit coincides with a holiday or special event, it creates an atmosphere of even more festivities to delight in. For instance, visiting Disney World around St. Patrick’s Day has much to offer in the way of fun follies and good times. From specially scheduled entertainment happenings that don’t usually occur regularly to delicious limited-time treats to indulge in, the best part is that you don’t even have to be truly Irish to celebrate! Irish or not, here are all the wonderful ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at Disney World.
Get Your Green On
The best way to get into the St. Patrick’s Day spirit is by donning all your favorite green gear. By extension, any cheerful St. Patrick’s Day-themed fashions will suffice (even those that aren’t altogether entirely green). And if you happen to be on location at Walt Disney World Resort for the grand occasion, you are even luckier than a leprechaun because there are so many awesome shirts, accessories, and other merchandise specifics that celebrate the holiday in full Disney theme (oftentimes even featuring your favorite Disney Characters). Disney-related St. Patrick’s Day buys are located throughout various Disney Parks, Disney Resorts, and Disney Springs retailers. You can also get what you need online through shopDisney or at other retailers known for carrying licensed Disney products.
Head to the Mighty St. Patrick’s Day Festival
This is hands down the biggest way to get into the St. Paddy’s Day swing of things. An annual event hosted onsite at the one and only Raglan Road Restaurant in Disney Springs, the Mighty St. Patrick’s Day Festival is a multi-day all-out celebration laden with traditional Irish music, dancing, delicious food, and a host of other entertaining extras to take part in. Having been heralded as America’s most authentic Irish festival, this year’s Mighty St. Patrick’s Day Festival opens on Thursday, March 16, and runs through Sunday, March 19.
Many big-name musicians and entertainers will attend this year’s event, including the renowned U2 tribute band Elevation. Other acts to be onsite include sixth-generation fiddler Clare Sands, the band Strings & Things from Tipperary and Galway, award-winning instrumentalists One of the Foxes, Irish band Men of Aran, musical duo Gobhán, the Irish trio band Celtic Croi, and Raglan Road’s own resident stage performers.
Like any good celebration, great food and bevies are also on the festival’s agenda. Highlights include Raglan Road’s Signature Brew Flight, a Whisky Flight, craft beers, wines, hand-crafted cocktails, and menu pairings from traditional chef selections among Irish vittles. These include house classics like their dry-aged prime short rib and brisket beef OMG Burger, Shepherd’s Pie (beef and lamb version or the popular plant-based option), and even fresh-caught fish with chips. And don’t forget to check out Raglan Road’s adjoining retailer, Shop for Ireland, along with neighboring quick-service eatery Cookes of Dublin.
