A vacation in Walt Disney World is magical from the very first attraction to the last few moments soaking in the atmosphere, and all guests are sure to have an amazing time throughout their stay. With so much to see and do throughout four theme parks, two water parks, over two dozen Disney Resorts, and Disney Springs, some guests might be totally overwhelmed at how to enjoy everything. Disney insiders who are familiar with Walt Disney World and visit often know the must do activities and experiences that simply can’t be missed on each and every trip. From thrilling attractions and classic nighttime shows to relaxing and meeting someone special, there are ten things Disney insiders always do. Here are the top ten things that Disney insiders do at Walt Disney World on every single trip.

1. Rope Drop

Disney insiders know that the key to making the most out of each day in Walt Disney World is by getting up early and exploring. Guests who arrive for rope drop at the theme parks each morning end up waiting at designated locations until they are fully let into the park. While waiting, there is typically entertainment and things to distract them from their wait, and once the gates are open they are some of the first guests inside where they can enjoy low wait times and few crowds.

2. Use PhotoPass

Disney insiders also love to take advantage of Disney’s PhotoPass. Scattered throughout all of Walt Disney World are special photographers who are waiting to take pictures of guests in magical places with magical effects. PhotoPass photographers ensure that all members of each group are featured in photos and they also capture wonderful memories that guests can cherish always.

3. Book the Right FastPasses

One of the most important things to utilize in Walt Disney World are FastPasses which act as reservations for specific attractions and entertainment. Guests who book a FastPass choose a time for their experience and report there at their designated time to enjoy it with little to no wait time. FastPasses can save a ton of time that can then be used to explore other parts of the parks and guests are smart to use them on popular attractions which tend to have the longest lines.

4. Use Advanced Dining Reservations

Advanced Dining Reservations are absolutely necessary for guests who are looking to enjoy a full service meal in any of the restaurants in Walt Disney World. They can be booked up to one hundred and eighty days in advance and ensure that guests are able to dine in the locations they want without being turned away because everything is booked.

5. Conquer the Mountains

Disney insiders love to conquer the thrilling mountain range found in the Magic Kingdom on each trip. Guests can start in Frontierland and ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad where they can whip through the town of Tumbleweed on the wildest ride in the wilderness. Also in Frontierland is Splash Mountain which brings guests on a soaking journey with Br’er Rabbit who is in search of more adventure. New Fantasyland is home to the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train which invites guests into the mines where the dwarfs work while moving in swaying mine carts. The final mountain in the Magic Kingdom is Space Mountain in Tomorrowland which blasts guests off for a high speed adventure in the darkness of space.

6. Watch Happily Ever After

No trip to Walt Disney World is complete without enjoying the nightly entertainment featured in the Magic Kingdom. Happily Ever After invites guests to celebrate happy endings with Cinderella Castle as the star. The show combines beautiful fireworks and Disney music with amazing projections right onto the castle. Guests who want the best spots should be sure to line up early to have a perfect view.

7. Take Time To Relax

One of the most important things that Disney insiders do on each trip to Walt Disney World is make time to relax. Exploring and enjoying the parks and everything else on property all day long can mean longs hours in the hot Central Florida sun and lots of walking. This can easily tire out guests, which makes designating some time each day to relaxing all the more important.

8. Explore World Showcase

Epcot is home to the incredible World Showcase which features eleven different countries that each celebrate a country from around the world. Disney insiders know that World Showcase is so full of detail that there is something new to be found on each trip. From unique cuisine, entertainment, attractions, and more, World Showcase is the perfect place to spend a day on each Disney trip.

9. Ride the Monorail

One of the most classic experiences that all guests can enjoy in Walt Disney World is a trip on the monorail. The highway in the sky features two lines, one which loops Seven Seas Lagoon and another which runs from the Transportation and Ticket Center to Epcot. Guests can kick back and enjoy unique views of Disney Parks and Disney Resorts while enjoying the monorail.

10. Meet Mickey

No visit to Walt Disney World is complete without meeting Mickey himself. One of the best places to meet Mickey is the Town Square Theater in the Magic Kingdom where he can be found decked out in his magician’s costume.

About Caitlin Kane

Caitlin Kane first started visiting Walt Disney World when she was two years old, and despite spending most of that trip quarantined with the chicken pox she managed to fall in love with the place. Visiting WDW every year since, she especially loves learning all about the history and small details of the parks and eating/drinking her way through the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival each fall. When she's not in Disney, Caitlin lives in New York and spends her time counting down the days to her next trip.
