We are frequent Disney travelers and each time we get to visit the parks, it feels like we tend to follow a routine when we get there that kick off an amazing day for all of us. There isn’t really only one “right” way to experience Disney parks, but this one definitely hasn’t steered us wrong! Here are 6 things that happen immediately when I get to Disney:

6. Take in the view.
Regardless of which park I am visiting for the day, I just have to take a minute to take in the view of the main icon for the park and the perfectly designed street leading to the icon. There is an amazing level of detail that Disney puts into every aspect of the part and the initial views absolutely make for memorable pictures and memories. Take a deep breath, put your arms around your loved ones and enjoy the view. It’s unlike anything else anywhere in the world!
5. Get a Starbuck’s beverage.
Once I can get past staring at the park icon (particularly Cinderella Castle), it’s definitely time for a Starbuck’s coffee. I switch back and forth between a hot coffee or an iced coffee depending on how hot it is and the time of day, but there is just something comforting about a delicious caffeine jolt while walking around the parks and building anticipation for the fun and magic that is about to ensue. This is also a great spot to grab a breakfast sandwich or a pastry to make sure you aren’t starving as you start your plans.
4. Confirm FastPass+ attractions/times.
While I sip on my coffee, I just have to check my FastPass+ and Dining Reservation times to make sure we know what we have lined up at different times. This lets us do time checks here and there to make sure that we don’t miss your times and plan the best route. We don’t want to find ourselves walking back and forth across the park, using our time and energy inefficiently. It is understandable that you don’t want to be glued to your phone the entire time, so getting a good overview of the plans before you get going it perfect, and you have Disney as an amazing backdrop while you review.
3. Check wait times.
So, you know when your FastPass+ times are, but you aren’t sure where to head first or which attraction you should hit first until your FastPass+ selection? Well that is why I check the wait times really quick. I always want to head in the direction that will put me close to our first FastPass+ selection at the time that it is available. Checking the wait times in that area or areas leading there helps plan stops and make the best use of your time. I like to get a plan in order so we can enjoy the day and get the most out of it without being glued to the phone!

2. Watch for streetmosphere.
Disney has magic and entertainment everywhere you look. The citizens of the different parks that come out to interact with the guests are an amazing attraction and experience all on their own. As we are moving through the streets to the various attractions, we always keep our eyes peeled for the different street entertainment that may be walking around and creating magical moments. You don’t want to miss these experiences, as they are extremely unique and come from some of the most talented individuals you will ever meet. There are musical performances, games, shows, magic tricks, etc. You never know what you might see, so you have to make sure you are paying attention to your surroundings instead of being tunnel-visioned on getting to the next ride.
1. Get in line for an attraction.
Well the time has finally come. We get in line for the first attraction of the day and we have our plans all set, have a snack and are full of caffeine, so we are pretty much set for a perfect day! We chat about plans, look for hidden Mickey’s, reminisce about previous experiences on the ride and sometimes play little games in line to enjoy the line experience before we finally get to board the first attraction. It sets the tone for a magical day with the family and is the moment we have all been waiting for.
Bonus Tip: If you drove, make sure that you remember where you are parked. I always text the parking location information to my husband as soon as we get there so that we have it in both of our phones. You definitely don’t want to end the day with a mad search for your car!
