Walt Disney World is home to countless dining experiences ranging from quick service locations serving up burgers and fries to fine dining experiences where guests are required to dress formally. One of the most popular dining locations can be found perched atop the highest level of Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The California Grill combines traditional Californian ingredients with unique flairs on an impressive menu. While the food is delicious, the décor and views alone are enough to keep guests returning time and time again. Here are six things that guests will love about the California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.


6. The View

Since the California Grill is located so high up at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, diners are treated to spectacular views of Seven Seas Lagoon, the Magic Kingdom, and nearby resorts including Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. One entire side of the restaurant features floor to ceiling glass windows allowing guests to enjoy the beautiful view while dining. Guests are also welcome to venture outside onto a balcony overlooking Seven Seas Lagoon to enjoy a drink and the breeze.

5. Happily Ever After

The bird’s eye view of the Magic Kingdom makes the California Grill one of the ultimate places to watch Happily Ever After. Each night, the sky over Cinderella Castle lights up with fireworks as Happily Ever After combines a storytelling and Disney music to create one amazing show. Guests dining in the California Grill each night are invited to watch Happily Ever After either from their table or the balcony outside. The show is piped into the restaurant and balcony, so guests don’t miss a thing and the view truly can’t be beat.

4. The Drinks

The California Grill boasts an impressive offering of wine, beer, and cocktails that guests love to responsibly indulge in. Upon arrival, guests are welcome to stop into the California Grill Lounge for a pre-dinner drink. Once seated, guests can choose from an extensive beer and wine list, or opt for a signature cocktail. Many guests love the Cucumber Fizz which combines vodka, limoncello, cucumber water, and Sprite for a refreshing and delicious drink.

3. Fresh Sushi

While guests are able to order up sushi at several location throughout Walt Disney World, the California Grill’s menu definitely boasts some of the most unique options. Guests can order Tuna Three Ways, a Spicy Kazan Roll, or Medusa Roll to name a few. One of the most popular sushi options at the restaurant is the New Moon Roll which includes Maine lobster, avocado, barbecue eel, rice pearls, and Gochujang Dragon sauce. There is no shortage of fresh sushi here!


2. The Menu

The menu at the California Grill is no joke and guests who are looking for multiple course meals will be delighted. Guests can start off choosing from appetizer options such as Brown Butter Parsnip Soup, Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli, and Mussels and Frites. Guests are also welcome to choose options from an impressive cheese and charcuterie selection that are always table pleasers. With all of these options, guests aren’t even to the main course yet! Entrees at the California Grill include items like a 19-oz Cowboy-cut Rib-Eye Steak, Swordfish, Colorado Bison Loin, Lobster and Pork Ramen, and Oak-Fired Filet of Beef. If all of this isn’t enough, one of the best things about the California Grill is that it has multiple menus that are friendly to specific allergies! Guests with peanut, tree nut, fish, egg, milk, shellfish, soy, and gluten allergies can choose from plenty of options that are allergy free and include appetizers, entrees, and desserts! Not having to worry about having a limited menu due to an allergy makes the California Grill an amazing place to dine with friends and family.
