Disney is changing its summer entertainment lineup.

Fireworks have closed out a day at Disney parks for generations. From Fantasy in the Sky to Happily Ever After, Disney’s nighttime spectaculars have become some of the company’s biggest attractions, often drawing thousands of guests to castle hubs every evening.

While early Disney fireworks focused almost entirely on pyrotechnics, modern productions combine projection mapping, lasers, fountains, drones, and original music. Some shows even swap fireworks for projections on certain nights, depending on weather or other conditions.

Seasonal events are another part of that evolution. Throughout the year, Disney parks temporarily replace their regular nighttime spectaculars with limited-time productions celebrating holidays and special occasions.

This year, one annual fireworks tradition is getting a complete overhaul.

Disney Replaces Bastille Day Fireworks

Disneyland Paris has confirmed that it is retiring its regular Bastille Day fireworks show in favor of a brand-new nighttime spectacular debuting on July 14.

The one-night-only production will replace Disney Tales of Magic and is “anchored” by Tinker Bell, who will “take us around the world through classic Disney and Pixar stories.”

Tinker Bell has long been associated with Disney fireworks. At Magic Kingdom, she flies from Cinderella Castle during Happily Ever After, while her image regularly appears throughout Disney’s nighttime entertainment around the world.

The new Paris show makes her its central character.

Concept art released by @DLPReport shows Sleeping Beauty Castle framed by fireworks, drones, and projection effects. Disney is keeping the show’s final surprise secret until the show debuts.

The performance will last around 12 minutes and begin with a French-themed opening before moving through Disney and Pixar stories.

Crowds Expected for One-Night Event

Bastille Day consistently ranks among Disneyland Paris’ busiest days of the year, with guests lining Main Street, U.S.A. hours before the fireworks begin.

Previous Bastille Day spectaculars have focused on Disney films connected to France, including The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996), Beauty and the Beast (1991), Ratatouille (2007), and The Aristocats (1970).

This year’s show appears to move away from that formula, using Tinker Bell as the thread connecting multiple Disney and Pixar worlds instead.

The production will feature new pyrotechnics, projection mapping, and 1,600 drones, reflecting Disney’s continued investment in drone technology across its parks.

Guests visiting on July 14 should also be aware that parts of Sleeping Beauty Castle — officially known as Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant — remain behind construction walls, with areas including the castle bridge currently closed.

As in previous years, the biggest crowds are expected inside Disneyland Park. Guests spending the evening at Disney Adventure World will likely find the park noticeably quieter while the nighttime spectacular takes place.
