‘Frozen’ Sisters Return! Will We Soon Be Able to Pay to See Them?

The popular Frozen (2013) sisters, Queen Elsa and Princess Anna have made a return to the Disney Parks! Does this mean they too will be added to the list of pay-to-see characters?

While Disney’s character “Meet and Greets” are currently a thing of the past, Disney is offering “Character Sightings” which are personalized visits with a character at a safe distance. No hugs, high-fives, or autographs, but you do get to be one-on-one with a character for what seems like the “first time in forever!”

We previously saw the return of Mickey Mouse at Magic Kingdom’s Main Street Theater along with Magic Kingdom Princesses at Princess Fairytale Hall. Plus, over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the beloved Olaf has returned for a character sighting experience.

Each of the returning characters above has been added to Walt Disney World’s upcharge service known as Disney Genie+. This service is much like the former FastPass service, except now Guests have to $15 per person per day if they would like to take advantage of it.

Much like the FastPass system, with the Disney Genie+, you can select attractions or experiences you would like to skip the line for. You’ll then be able to bypass the normal standby line and enter via the Lightning Lane for expedited access.

It feels extremely strange to now be able to pay to see Mickey through what was once a complimentary FastPass service. Of course, if you don’t want to pay the additional $15 per person, per day to gain access to the Disney Genie+ attractions, you don’t have to. You can always wait in the normal standby line.

Now that Anna and Elsa have returned to EPCOT’s Norway Pavilion at Royal Sommerhus, we can’t help but wonder if they will become part of the Disney Genie+ experience so Guests can pay to skip the line to see the popular sisters.

Currently, the list of EPCOT attractions on Disney Genie+ includes Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival, Journey into Imagination with Figment, Living with the Land, Mission: SPACE – Green, Mission: SPACE – Orange, Soarin’ Around the World, Spaceship Earth, Test Track, The Seas with Nemo & Friends, and Turtle Talk with Crush.

The a la carte individual Lightning Lane purchases not included with the Disney Genie+ include Frozen Ever After and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.

This means at the moment Anna and Elsa have yet to be offered with the pay to skip the line Disney Genie+ experience. If the sisters make it on the list like Mickey, Magic Kingdom Princesses, and Olaf has, does this give you extra incentive to purchase Disney Genie+ at EPCOT?

We suspect that the Frozen sisters will likely join Disney Genie+ as all other return character sightings have made it on the list. We’ll keep you posted however if Disney decides to add the Frozen sisters as part of the paid Disney experience. In the meantime, we’re still trying to tell ourselves to “let it go” over this whole Disney Genie+ deal.
