“Manipulating the Youth”: Florida Gubernatorial Candidate Doubles Down Following Disney World Lifetime Ban

The political landscape in Florida has officially entered a new era of volatility as 2026 kicks off with a high-stakes confrontation between the state’s largest employer and a rising Republican star. James Fishback, the 30-year-old investor and Florida gubernatorial candidate, is not just demanding an apology from The Walt Disney Company—he is now accusing the entertainment giant of “manipulating the youth” in a scathing social media escalation that has set the 2026 campaign trail ablaze.

Following his high-profile removal and lifetime ban from Walt Disney World Resort in late December 2025, Fishback has shifted his rhetoric from a dispute over property rights to a broader cultural indictment of the “Mouse House.”

The Incident: A “Meet-and-Greet” Turned Trespass

The conflict began during the final week of December 2025, when Fishback, the founder of Azoria Partners and a prominent voice in the “anti-woke” movement, attempted to host an unsanctioned political meet-and-greet at a Disney World resort. Running on a platform of “aggressive affordability” and a vow to succeed Governor Ron DeSantis, Fishback brought together over 150 supporters—whom he described as “patriots”—for a conversation about Florida’s future.

The gathering was cut short when Disney security intervened. Citing strict policies against “unsanctioned political meetings” and solicitation on private property, Disney officials issued Fishback a formal trespass warning, effectively banning him for life from all Disney parks and resorts.

“I was there as a guest and a Floridian to speak with my fellow citizens,” Fishback stated at the time. “Instead, I was treated like a criminal for the crime of having a conversation.”

The Escalation: “Manipulating the Youth”

While the initial fallout centered on the legality of the trespass, Fishback took to X (formerly Twitter) to widen the scope of the battle. In a viral post that has garnered millions of impressions, Fishback accused Disney of a more sinister motive than merely enforcing property lines.

“Disney didn’t just ban me to protect their ‘private property,’” Fishback posted. “They banned me because I’m exposing their real agenda. They are no longer a family company; they are a political machine focused on manipulating the youth through indoctrination and viewpoint suppression. Florida will not be a playground for corporate social engineering.”

This accusation of “manipulating the youth” strikes at the heart of the ongoing culture war in Florida. Fishback, who has a background in educational debate and has frequently critiqued the influence of DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) in schools, is positioning his ban as a badge of honor in the fight for the next generation. By framing Disney as a threat to children’s formative values, he is tapping into the same energy that fueled the Parental Rights in Education battles of years prior.

“Apologize Now”: The Demand to Bob Iger

In addition to his social media offensive, Fishback issued an open letter to Disney CEO Bob Iger, demanding an immediate meeting and a formal apology. The letter, titled “Apologize Now,” frames the incident as “political targeting” and “viewpoint discrimination.”

Fishback’s demands are clear:

  1. A Formal Apology: Retraction of the “unprofessional and discriminatory” treatment by Disney security.
  2. A Personal Meeting: An audience with Bob Iger to discuss Disney’s “exclusionary” policies toward conservative candidates.
  3. Policy Review: A demand that Disney clarify its rules regarding free speech within the “Disney Bubble.”

“You cannot take billions in tax breaks from the people of Florida and then ban their candidates for office from your grounds,” Fishback wrote. “This is a blatant attempt by a ‘woke’ corporation to interfere in a democratic election.”

The Legal Crossroads: Property Rights vs. Free Speech

Legal experts have weighed in on the controversy, noting that Disney holds a formidable legal position. As a private landowner, Disney has the right to regulate speech and assembly on its property. Disney World’s rules explicitly prohibit “the display of goods or services” and “solicitation,” which the company interprets broadly to include political campaigning.

However, Fishback’s campaign argues that Disney’s status as a quasi-government entity (due to its long-standing special districts and tax incentives) complicates its ability to silence political figures. By banning a top gubernatorial candidate during an election cycle, Fishback claims Disney is engaging in corporate election interference.

Impact on the 2026 Florida Governor’s Race

The “Disney vs. Fishback” feud is already reshaping the Republican primary. Fishback, who is running against heavyweights like Rep. Byron Donalds, has successfully leveraged the ban to solidify his credentials as the heir apparent to DeSantis’s “anti-woke” legacy.

By forcing a confrontation with Bob Iger, Fishback has successfully baited the media and his opponents into a debate about corporate power. While Disney has remained largely silent, preferring to let its established trespass policies speak for themselves, the optics of a Florida candidate being banned for life from the state’s most iconic landmark remain a potent campaign tool.

The Future of the “Mouse House” in Florida

As 2026 progresses, the question remains whether Disney will engage with Fishback’s demands. Historically, the company has avoided direct combat with individual candidates, but with Fishback’s rhetoric about “manipulating the youth” gaining traction among parents and conservative voters, the silence from Burbank may be viewed as an admission of guilt by his base.

For Fishback, the lifetime ban is more than a legal hurdle—it is a central pillar of his stump speech. For Disney, it serves as a reminder that in the hyper-polarized environment of Florida politics, even the “Most Magical Place on Earth” is a battleground.

  1. This is ridiculous. Fishbeck was just trying to create a scene.I’m not sure why anyone would vote for someone who engages in these childish pranks. I think Fishback was just being an ass and I hope it comes back to bite him in the ass. If this is the most important thing he’s running on he needs to go away. FLorida needs someone who’s going to take care of the myriad of issues that go on in this state and not behave like a child.

Completely agree. I was appalled when I was with my granddaughter heading to Disney Springs and there were skin heads with swastika arm bands! We go to Disney to escape this ridiculousness going on. I’m all about free speech. Be aware of ruining and frightening others and most importantly, children!!!!

  2. He’s full of it!

  3. Fishback is out of line. When I visit Disney, I go there to escape the day to day politics. I DONT WANT TO SEE it or hear it during my vacations at Disney.

  4. There is no need for politicians to be campaign campaigning at Disney. It is for families to be away from it all.
