September brought us a few exciting new stories, and we might have missed them. We were all so focused on Disney’s 50th Anniversary celebration starting October 1st that we forgot all the other news we found out in September from Disney World. We have some of the top news stories that Disney released during September. Some of these were ones that we weren’t prepared for at all, and others we could have seen coming.
No Virtual Queue for Rise of the Resistance
We were shocked when Disney World announced that the most popular ride in Disney’s Hollywood Studios would be moving away from a virtual queue. Before this announcement, Guests with a Park Pass reservation to Disney’s Hollywood Studios could try to get a boarding group at either 7 am or 1 pm for Rise of the Resistance. A boarding group number that put Guests into a virtual queue was the only way to experience this attraction. For now, Guests who have a Park pass reservation to Disney’s Hollywood Studio or Park Hop to the theme Park can choose to use the stand-by line to wait for their chance to experience this extremely popular line. The very first day, we saw extremely high wait times; however, since then, we have seen wait times become more of what we expect, ranging from a couple of hours at peak time to just a few minutes. We don’t anticipate this lasting a long time, as with the introduction of Genie+ and Lightning Lane coming soon, we know that Rise of the Resistance will soon be a new system where Guests can choose to pay per ride. We will have to wait to see what that brings in the future in Disney World.
Reimagined Finding Nemo the Musical
Fans of this breathtaking musical in Animal Kingdom were unhappy when rumors spread that it was being canceled. If you have seen this show in Animal Kingdom, you have been amazed by the giant puppets, great music, and outstanding performers. Disney World soon released that Finding Nemo the Musical wasn’t being canceled, only reimagined. We know that some of the beloved songs will be returning, and the same characters will be seen in the show. Fans were shocked by this news story and extremely grateful that we can still see the show moving forward in just a different capacity.
Opening Date for Star Wars Galactic StarCruiser
Disney World announced that the highly anticipated new immersive Star Wars hotel will be accepting its first passengers on March 1st, 2022. General booking will become available to Guests on October 28th, but we have learned that this two-night experience won’t be cheap. The cost will range from $1209 to $749 per night per Guest, making this an expensive adventure. We have learned more and more about this 2-night adventure and what it will include for Guests that choose to participate. Not only will their adventure include experiences on the StarCruiser, but it does have an excursion to Batuu where Guests will be able to enjoy both Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. This adventure will be more like an all-inclusive cruise experience, and we can’t wait to see what the magic brings to Disney’s Hollywood Studio.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Comic Rewind Is Coming in 2022
Another big announcement came in September regarding the opening date for another highly anticipated ride. In EPCOT, we can expect Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind to open in 2022. We weren’t given a specific time period within 2022, so keep that in mind, but we know that Disney is hopeful that we will see this new indoor coaster sometime in the next year. We look forward to learning more about this new ride experience that Disney will be bringing into the theme Park.
Guests will soon be able to purchase a new MagicBand for their Disney World vacation. These new interactive Magic Bands called Magic Band+ will include new interactive features that will help enhance Guests experience in the parks. We have been told they will interact with some of the Disney Fab 50 Character Statues but haven’t heard what else to expect. We look forward to adding these new Magic Bands to our collection.
Candlelight Processional Returns
One of the news stories that brought us the most joy last month was the announcement that Candlelight Processional in EPCOT would be returning as part of the Festival of the Holidays in 2021. Although we are still in the middle of Halloween and the 50th Anniversary Celebration, we are beyond excited to have this magical holiday experience return to EPCOT in 2021. Last year, Disney did a fantastic job making the holidays special, but something was missing without this option. We are excited to hear what narrators will be helping bring the magic to EPCOT this Christmas.
These were just a few of the big new stories that Disney brought us throughout September. From new experiences and returning experiences, we are super excited to see what else will be announced moving forward. Which news story are you the most excited about?
