A visit to Walt Disney World Resort isn’t complete without seeing the beloved Disney characters! So, we’re going to let you in on a little secret. Here’s the best character sighting spot that no one talks about… but they should.
The old-fashioned Disney Park character meet and greets are gone. Currently, Disney Guests are not able to hug, high-five, or ask for autographs. Disney has even changed the name from “meet and greets” to “sightings”. For example, when visiting Mickey Mouse at Magic Kingdom’s Town Square Theater, Guests stand in front of a rope, at a safe distance from Mickey.
Photos with the characters look rather different now as well. Any indoor character sighting means a mask must be worn, plus the character is distant in the photo. That magical photo touch is currently missing.
So, why not escape the lines or the need to pay to see the characters with Disney Genie+? Instead, head on over to Magic Kingdom Park where you can see Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Goofy, and Donald Duck, along with several Disney Princesses up close.
Multiple times during the day, characters fill the Main Street, U.S.A. Tran Station. The Disney characters wave from above as Disney Guests do their best to snap photos from down below. A crowd forms and frankly, the photos of the characters are never exceptional.
When you see characters at the Train Station and crowds starting to form, head towards Main Street Chamber of Commerce. There is a walking path between the Train Station and the Chamber of Commerce, near a Popcorn Cart. We’ve starred the spot in the map below, or simply ask a Cast Member in that area.
Once the characters have finished waving at Guests from above at the Train Station, they get in a line and walk down the path to exit backstage. The great thing, is they still wave to Guests as they go. Typically, the people that gather in this space are minimal, and you can see the characters up close and personal for an intimate character sighting moment. Check out the video below of Mickey and his pals exiting down the ramp:
Not only can you spot Mickey and his best pals along with Disney Princesses, but even Winnie the Pooh and Friends put on a show as they exit the Train Station! Check out the video below posted by @scottvirzi5 where Eeyore struggles to make it through a rainy day:
This is such a fun way to see the characters without fighting the crowds! The only negative we’d say is that if you want those Disney character sighting photos, the characters don’t stop. They keep on moving, so a video or a quick snap of a photo is best.
Are you going to take advantage of this secret character sightings spot? Say hi to Mickey and friends for us!
