The Secret to Getting that Hard-to-Find Dining Reservation – With a Catch

ogas-cantina-hollywood-secret

There are so many treats, cuisines, and themes to suit every Guest at Disney dining locations across the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme parks, as well as at Disney Springs,

Many Disney Guests struggle to get coveted reservations, however, at the most popular restaurants at Walt Disney World. After the pandemic, crowds are increasing again, and capacity limits are loosening. Any table-service dining location on Walt Disney World property has an Advanced Dining Reservation option on the My Disney Experience app, which opens 60 days before arrival, but many reservations are already booked up.

So, for Disney Guests looking for a difficult dining reservation, we provide our best tip for some of the smaller restaurants at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Often, our biggest tip for snagging a table at places like Chef Mickey’s, Be Our Guest, Space 220, or Cinderella’s Royal Table is to look at the last minute. Many Walt Disney World Guests cancel a Disney dining reservation the day before their Disney vacation slot. 24 hours prior to reservation time is the cancellation policy to avoid any costly fees, and usually, this is $10 per person.

So, the day before your desired reservation date, go into the My Disney Experience app and search for dining reservations. Keep refreshing, as you will certainly see multiple reservations pop up.

But what about a restaurant that is smaller and more intimate, like the popular Oga’s Cantina? Reservations for this restaurant are hard to come by, particularly when considering its size in relation to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Oga’s Cantina is the highly-themed bar located in Batuu at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Star Wars-themed land is set between Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi (2017) and Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker (2019) in the Star Wars timeline and features two attractions – Millenium Falcon: Smugglers Run and the continually popular Rise of the Resistance.

Reservations for Oga’s are difficult to snag, with many Star Wars fans settling on early morning reservations just to get into the sought-after alcohol destination at Walt Disney World. The place is amazingly decorated, features fun Cast Members, and offers a selection of cocktails to please any Star Wars fan. One of the most popular menu options is the Fuzzy Tauntaun with a unique “Buzz Button Tingling” Foam that will leave Guests’ lips and tongues tingling! There’s also The Yub Nub, T-16 Skyhopper, Dagobah Slug Slinger, Jet Juice, Jedi Mind Trick, The Outer Rim, Bespin Fizz, and Rodian Ration.

Our best tip for Oga’s Cantina, if you have a die-hard Star Wars fan in your group who just has to see Oga’s Cantina, is to look for single-table offerings.

That’s right – if you have someone in your group who just loves everything Yoda, Hans Solo, Luke, and Leia, we recommend letting them try Oga’s by themselves and searching for a table for 1 person on the app.

Whenever we search for Oga’s Cantina reservations for 1 Guest, there are often multiple options that pop up, even for popular days like July 4. Below is a screenshot of the My Disney Experience app searching for 1 Guest for July 4. There were choices all day for the popular Oga’s Cantina!

Of course, this trick only works if you have someone in your party who is desperate to try a Disney dining location and is willing to separate from the Disney vacation group for a while.

But, if you do have that die-hard Star Wars fan who just must try Oga’s and that Fuzzy Tauntaun – here’s the dining reservation secret for you! Not everyone in your party has to go – try taking a break from the sun and grabbing a snack at Ronto Roasters or joining an attraction standby line while you wait.

May the Force be with you!
