Disney Fantasmic! Characters Improvise Finale Without Boat at Hollywood Studios

Disney character performers improvised an impromptu dance number for Fantasmic after the boat used during the finale experienced a malfunction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The return of Fantasmic! at the Walt Disney World Resort created a frenzy for the beloved special effects show, sparking long lines of Guests each night waiting to enter the Hollywood Hills amphitheater, and debates online about which version of the show across each Disney Park is “best.” Disney even recently added an exclusive showing for Annual Passholders to celebrate Fantasmic!’s triumphant return.

Interestingly, the newest version at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Park features new scenes and stylistic changes, but one performance included a significant variation that was completely unplanned!

The show culminates in a grand finale spectacular featuring Mickey and his friends, along with a host of other Disney characters from timeless Disney classics like Peter Pan to new additions such as Moana and Tiana from the Princess and the Frog. Typically, the finale dance number, which features ribbons, occurs on a steamboat captained by Steamboat Willie Mickey Mouse himself.

However, as a TikTok posted by @__….jordan….__ during one of the show’s performances, the boat malfunctioned, leaving the characters stranded on the island where the rest of the show takes place:

Luckily, everyone seems to think quickly and recover well, with all the characters taking to the rocks in order to perform the final number with just as much magic as any other night! After years of being closed during the shutdown, it’s likely Disney Guests were elated to have Fantasmic! back in any form, boat or no.
