Disney Guests Doused at Wilderness Lodge During Cold Front Storm

Have you ever visited Disney’s Wilderness Lodge at the Walt Disney World Resort? If you have, you’ll know the Deluxe Resort hotel is famous for its picturesque setting which blends a luxury experience with down-to-earth accommodations.

First opened in 1994 as part of an expansion to the Magic Kingdom Resort Area, the Wilderness Lodge draws inspiration from our National Parks’ own lodges during the turn of the century. Embodying the search for the Great Outdoors, Disney claims it “celebrates American craftsmanship and honors the beauty of the untamed wilderness.”

Of course, the first thing any Guest experiences at a Disney Resort is the lobby, and typically these are heavily themed, grandiose, or both! What’s more, Walt Disney World has begun enacting lots of new changes to many of their beloved Resorts to bring in new amenities and touches of Disney Magic.

For example, both Disney’s Grand Floridian and Disney’s Boardwalk Inn have confirmed updates to feature stunning enhancements, and unique dining experiences, as well as additional character theming in the rooms of the Polynesian and Contemporary Resorts. Now, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge seems to want to offer up its own take on novelty, in a strange way…

In fact, some Guests recent stay wasn’t all that magical or welcoming after being soaked by water upon arrival, and not during a visit to the Geyser Point Bar! One Guest captured evidence of the unfortunate incident and uploaded it to TikTok:

Moreover, user @kingdomreportlive joked in the caption that the massive leak in the Wilderness Lodge ceiling was part of its “immersive outdoors-y theming.” You can see in the video a slew of rainwater falling into the lobby area upon Guests passing by, while valiant Cast Members attempt to catch the leaking liquid in trash bins and other makeshift buckets.

Luckily, this change is definitely temporary, and Disney will have likely repaired any gaps in the Resort’s exterior by tomorrow as they adjust to the strong weather conditions created by the oncoming cold front.
