This summer is shaping up to be a busy one at Walt Disney World! Between pent-up demand for travel in general and Disney’s current theme park reservation system, planning a Walt Disney World vacation may be more challenging than ever, especially if you are more of a last-minute traveler.
Theme park reservations are required to enter any Disney Park, and while it is recommended that you check for availability before you purchase tickets, those last-minute vacations could be impacted as Parks fill to capacity.
Currently, both the Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios have filled to capacity for the remainder of this month. If you are planning a summer trip to Walt Disney World, here’s what the current reservation availability could mean for your next vacation.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom is also already sold out through June 24, 2022, so we would expect this park to be the next to sell out as reservations continue to fill up.
Going into July, all four theme parks currently have availability for reservations with the exception of July 4, 2022, when the Magic Kingdom is already sold out. The traditional 4th of July fireworks show will be back at the Magic Kingdom this year, but the show will also be performed on July 3, so if you are visiting the parks and hoping to see them we recommend making your reservations for July 3 as soon as you are able to.
Disney Parks with the exception of EPCOT have been booking up by the middle of the month or sooner depending on the date, so planning ahead is more important than ever this summer. As we head into the fall, and later into the holidays, we expect to see continued sold out days on the availability calendar.
As you plan your next Walt Disney World vacation, be sure to check for availability before you purchase your tickets, and secure your reservations once you have your park tickets just to be safe. And, if a park is sold out during your visit, remember that if you purchase a Park Hopper option for your tickets, you may still be able to visit after 2:00 p.m.
