Disney Princesses Keep the Magic Alive as a Guest Attempts Uncomfortable Pranks

If you are reading this article, you probably have no interest in attempting to get popular Disney characters to break character.

Sadly this is not the case for everyone, as any Cast Member who has worked in entertainment can tell you, and recently one Guest took this cringey challenge to social media, sharing an uncomfortable interaction for viewers on TikTok.

TikTok user @onthebed13 has been receiving backlash from Disney fans (or so-called “Disney Adults”) since posting a series of videos featuring “pranks” during a trip to Walt Disney World. Two of the videos show the Guest visiting Princess Fairytale Hall in the Magic Kingdom where he encounters both Cinderella and Elena of Avalor.

Rather than joining the two characters for an ordinary meet and greet experience, the Guest then proceeds to ask the two Princesses for out-of-character information such as their “real” names and where they are from:

Disney takes character integrity extremely seriously, and those who are “friends with” characters could be fired for breaking character while interacting with a Guest on stage. Both Cinderella and Elena of Avalor handle the interaction flawlessly, however, only sharing information relating to the character’s storylines and helping to keep that Disney magic alive.

While the video appears to have been shot earlier (given the distanced meet and greet setup and the fact that the Guest is wearing a mask) it was only posted recently. Disney fans, and viewers in the comments on the Guest’s TikTok account shared that the video was difficult to watch and not funny.

In the comments to the Guest’s videos, one user Jenn writes, “Dude if everyone says it’s creepy…it’s creepy.” Others point out that the prank was simply not funny and watching the characters put up with the conversation is difficult, while one commenter, RiskyReule, even called for Disney to ban the Guest saying, “@Disney Parks May want to ban this guy from the parks for harassing your characters.”

For your next trip to Disney World, remember to always help keep the magic alive when it comes to meeting Disney characters. Even if you are not interacting with them in the same ways as this Guest did, small comments can be overheard by other Guests and it is never worth ruining someone else’s (and probably a child’s) day or making a Cast Member’s job more difficult.
