Guests must undergo strict security checks before entering Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, and Downtown Disney. These protocols keep everyone on Disney property safe, but some guests say Disneyland Resort is too lax on security for its cast members.
Guest security processes at Disneyland Resort include metal detectors, bag searches, and body wand screenings for select individuals. Security cast members are looking for prohibited items like weapons, illicit substances, and outside alcohol.
Most Disneyland Resort guests walk through the security checkpoint without issue. However, Redditor u/Team-ING was recently frustrated when they noticed Disney cast members didn’t have to go through the same intense process as Disney Park guests.
“Why are staff only checked but don’t have to go through the public metal detectors with all security?” the Disney Park guest asked. “They enter [through] the exit gate and don’t need to go [through] the metal detectors. Hmm.”
Some Disney Parks fans agreed that the user exposed a flaw in Disneyland Resort’s security protocols.
“Because it’s security theater…,” u/wizzard419 replied. “The checkpoints don’t actively change much but give people peace of mind.”
Still, most fans didn’t think cast members should have to wait in a long security line daily, primarily because Disneyland Resort performs background checks on all potential employees before hiring them.
“You think there’s a conspiracy or something?” u/sharkbite217 asked. “Employees aren’t subject to the same screening as the general population anywhere. Disneyland, concerts, museums, airports. Employees get background checks and usually have more to lose. Did you get a background check before you bought your ticket?”
“Maybe, just maybe, they’ve already been vetted?” u/SixToesLeftFoot replied. “If only they had some sort of way to check their background ahead of time. Sort of like, some sort of background check.”
Guests must follow Disneyland Resort’s rules or risk ejection from the Southern California Disney park. Learn about prohibited items and behaviors here.
