Disney Makes Fortune’s List of ‘World’s Most Admired Companies’

The last year was a challenging one for the Walt Disney Company between continued union negotiations with theme park Cast Members, the ongoing recovery from the pandemic, and the ousting of now-former CEO Bob Chapek. Still, the company has a 100-year legacy behind it that is being celebrated this year with Disney100 festivities in Disneyland Park, and around the world.

The future is also looking optimistic, with boomerang CEO Bob Iger back in the lead executive position, several new highly anticipated films and series underway for Disney+, and updates to Disney theme parks that are set to bring back some of the flexibility lost during the pandemic.

Several factors contributed to the company’s placement on the list, which according to Disney include:

…innovation; people management; use of corporate assets; social responsibility; quality of management; financial soundness; long-term investment value; quality of products/services; and global competitiveness.

While Disney joined the ranks for its success as a media and entertainment company, the list was compiled after research by consulting firm Korn Ferry surveyed data across 1,500 companies from 52 industries.

The future of the Walt Disney Company specifically is sure to be an interesting one, with the first major structural updates to be announced during next week’s Quarterly Earnings Call, the first to take place since Bob Iger returned as CEO.
